Cleaning House! (Blest)

Okay… the party is tomorrow.  Let’s clean the house to get ready!  I know I’m somewhat behind on some blog maintenance around the place…

Here’s what I want you to do:

1. Look at the Meet The Team page.  See if there’s anything I need to fix in your profile - anything you want me to change.  Put that in the comments.

2. Check the blogroll.  If I need to update your address or add your blog… Put that in the comments.

3. If you have a prize for tomorrow’s All Day giveaways - remind me and Put that in the comments

  1. Okay, I am no longer a red-head, real or otherwise. And while I enjoy yoga I haven’t done it for months so might as well remove that. Let’s add biking in there instead.

As for prizes, I can offer an Avon shower gel/lotion set, a tote bag, or a set of note cards. Just let me know.

  2. Thanks for being the cleaning lady, Blest!

    1. Brandi now runs for exercise and Bird is now 31

    3. I have a $5 Starbuck’s gift card to give away

  3. Well the bit about losing so much by Christmas in mine needs to come out. I’ll try to think about it and let you know.
Thanks for doing all this Blest. We love you

  4. 1. There was a point right when I turned 25 last September when I kept forgetting how old I was and telling people that I was 26. The day I emailed you my info for the “meet the team” link must’ve been during that time period. I am currently 25 but will be 26 in September! You also could add “about to move to sunny California” in there somewhere. And about 25 pounds! Sheesh. I’ve definitely backed that down to about 20. My body is happy and healthy right now. I am currently at a point where I want to continue eating healthy and also continue to lose a few pounds through increased exercise and increased muscle mass. My current goal is to be at goal by this upcoming Christmas.

    2. Please add me! http://jenniferincali.blogspot.com/

    3. I can offer a set of 4 homemade notecards — birthday, friend, hello, etc. plus envelopes, of course!

    Comment by Anne — July 24, 2007 @ 1:16 pm

  5. Yeah, I’m not working in school anymore as of about 4 days ago, but I am still looking after children, so you could change that bit if you can think of a way to make it sound good ;-)
Otherwise it’s ok really. I still need to lose 100 pounds. You could mention that I’ve already lost 30+.
    My blog is still correct.

    Comment by Debs — July 24, 2007 @ 2:05 pm

  6. I’m no longer 36, I’ve decided I’ll be 29.

No, seriously, I’m still 36. But I’m not doing Slimfast anymore, I’m following a low-carb healthy diet, and my goal is to lose 65-70 pounds total instead of 50.

I will give away one Love Inspired book.

    Comment by Jana — July 24, 2007 @ 3:31 pm

  7. I also bike for exercise. Wish I could do more, but I’m still working on that hip pain. I guess you could also include my hobbies - knitting and quilting. Everything else is still pretty much the same. Thanks!

    Comment by Anita — July 24, 2007 @ 4:35 pm

  8. Ok so I will donate bubble bath. And I have now joined a gym to get my exercise.

  9. Blest, I think you need to change your thing, after all isn’t your eldest 9 now?
    love ya x

  10. Blest — I actually have two sets of 4 homemade cards to give away. So count that for two prizes :)

    Comment by Anne — July 25, 2007 @ 6:21 am

  11. Better late than never…put me down for 2 gifts. Not sure what they’ll be, but I’ll come up with something. :)

    Comment by Cristina — July 25, 2007 @ 7:03 am

  12. I think I have a bit to change in my profile. I’m now just using good ole diet and exercise to lose. My favorite exercise right now is Yoga. However I think running is the exercise I do the most. I still think I’m a “fun mom” — and also anyone who knows me knows that I am passionate about women and babies (born and unborn) so I think that should be in there somewhere because it is a huge part of who I am.

    Comment by Mandi — July 25, 2007 @ 7:41 am

  13. I’m not 30 yet!!! But I will be in November so I guess you don’t have to change it :) And I’m not using any Nutrisystem food, just low GI recipes.

Sorry I missed the party! I’ve had company the past two weeks and been busy!

It's all about the change

Happy Monday Everybody!! How was your weekend? It’s only two short days until the one year blogiversary here at OWOA! Woo Hoo!

In today’s weigh-in, I need a little extra data from you. How much have you lost in the past year? After all, we want a grand total on Wednesday, don’t we? And don’t forget about this post where we’re counting all the wonderful things about this site, healthy eating, exercising, and - of course- losing weight! We’re over 100 comments now- how far can we go?!

  1. 133.2

That’s 11.2 pounds down in the last year. Yippeeeeee!

My goals for between now and when I move cross-country at the end of August are to 1. lose one more pound; 2. work out at least 3 times a week, hopefully 4. I wish I could say that I was going to be to “goal” (although I, like Blest, still haven’t figured out exactly what my goal weight is, but I know it’s under 130) by then, but there’s a lot of stuff to do between now and then. I’m ok if I reach goal while in Cali. It’ll just be nice to have “goal” in mind while traipsing cross-country when I want to eat candy and chips. ;-)

  2. * that’s down 0.4 for the week, by the way…

  3. 151/145/132

So, a total loss of 6 pounds in a year. Of fat that is. :)

I also don’t know about my goal. I haven’t been in the 130’s for a long time so I don’t know if that is best for me or not. As I get closer I might change it, but it’ll do for now.

  4. I’m away from my scales, so don’t know what I weigh right now. Last Monday it was 167. Last Friday it was 171. I’m hoping that was a temporary blip. I’ve definitely lost at least 30 pounds since I started the Beach in January.
I’m doing as best i can with conference food. After failing to find anything that wasn’t full of sugar for breakfast on the first day, I’ve bought my own sugar free muesli and low fat yoghurt and snacks for mid morning and afternoon. They definitely make a difference to my ability to choose good things at meal times. I’m getting in exercise where I can. I went for a long bike ride before breakfast yesterday, Didn’t make it today, but might manage it this afternoon. I am running around college a lot though, sometimes literally running. It’s good to find I can run easily without finding myself immediately puffing and panting.

  6. 212/157.2/145

Down 1.6 this week. Which means to date I have lost 54.8 pounds, but “only” 42.8 since joining this site. I am moving my goal down to 145, because I actually believe I can get there, unlike a year ago.

  7. 330/305/150 Ok I am up 1 and feeling VERY discouraged. The doctors are having a very hard time with my thyroid. I go back again to see them on Friday. Here is what I have done to be proactive, I joined a gym and am stepping up my workouts. We will see. I have lost a total of 25 pounds since January.

  8. I’m soooo mad at myself! No change. To be honest, I should have gained. I have been horrible and I need to get back to it. I have had no motivation. I’m week!!!! Well I’m not week, but I have chosen to be week.

    Comment by Nikki — July 23, 2007 @ 7:20 am |Edit This

  9. Not so great … up two this week (gained back last week’s lost), but I’m not beating myself over it. :)

As for what I’ve lost in the last year. Zip. I had a baby and gained about 30 lbs! (However, I would like to add that I’m below my prepregnancy weigh already. Yeah!)

    Comment by stephanie — July 23, 2007 @ 7:21 am |Edit This

  10. 147/131/130 Up 1 this week. Waah. I splurge a little too much. Several eating out get-togethers with people this week. But it was up more earlier in the week, so I am on a downward trend.

As of today, 16 pounds have been lost since last year. It was almost 18 last week, but I’ve slipped. I’m thinking that I’m going to shoot for a total of 20 lost by the end of the summer. My stomach is still a bit squidgy and that will give me some wiggle room for the occasional week like I had this last week. Also no exercise has been going on this last week and that I’m sure is contributing. No time. But maybe this week there will be some.

    Comment by Anita — July 23, 2007 @ 7:36 am |Edit This

  11. 212.8/126.8/135

    Uhhhhh… down 4.4

Don’t look at me like that! I ate!!! Ask anyone who saw me at VBS- I had lunch and snacks and everything! But I was up 2 with water last week - so I lost the water and then some…

  13. Oh my goodness Blest, you do sooo good…you consistently loose and you loose lots.

Kellie, don’t be discouraged. Your thyroid will get figured out AND 25lbs since the beginning of the year…that’s AWESOME!!!

    Comment by Cristina — July 23, 2007 @ 9:24 am |Edit This

  14. 239.8/224/200 (short term goal)
Up .4lbs, which is totally deserved. My sister was visiting for 2 weeks and even though I tried to make healthy choices, sometimes the unhealthy won.
She left this morning. :( So, time to get back on track.
Since joining OWOA, I’ve lost 15.8 lbs. Since the beginning of the year, I’ve lost 26 lbs.

    Comment by Cristina — July 23, 2007 @ 9:35 am |Edit This

  15. Wow Blest congratulations. That is so great. I mean sure, I want to beat you, but I am so proud of you too. Wow.

    Comment by Nikki — July 23, 2007 @ 10:49 am |Edit This

  16. Beat me? How so? Are we the same height and you have a lower goal weight or what?

Oh! Or do you mean you wanna knock me out?

  17. 220/175.0/175
Wow I was so surprised to be at 175 dead on this morning as that was my original goal. I did think I was on track to make it last week and I did. That makes 45 pounds since starting south beach in early October.I have a new goal of 170 as I think I could lose a bit more. Oh and its down 1.4 this week.
The holidays have started ie school is over for 6 weeks but there is plenty to do at home. Debs and I need to encourage each other to keep on track with the eating as we get into a new routine. it could be easy to let things slide when we are less busy and there is food around ‘cos we are at home.

  18. 264/248.2/130

I have lost 15.8 lbs in the past year. I wanted to lose so much more - but as my darling husband reminds me, this is the first year in a while that the trend is downward, not up. So there’s 15.8 lbs off of me, while I could have put on another 10 instead… Victory is mine, and if I can keep this up - well, it might take a while, but it will happen.

(seriously, my goal is to lose 1 lb. Next goal is to get to 245. After that 240. Then I’ll do it again!)

  19. 198/162/140

Grrr, I hate Mondays. Why is it that I’m always down for several days preceding Monday, and then up a bit on Monday? Well, I guess I am still down a pound from last week, but jeepers, I’ve been at 160 for three days, until this morning! It happens a lot!

But I’m not complaining or anything…just glad to still be losing! My total is 36 pounds.

  20. I mean knock you out. But in the nicest way possible. And we are hardly the same size. I’m 5′8″. But it was all in fun.

  22. 294/263.2/260 (short term goal)
I am up 1.4 this week. I’ve realised this week that I need to be more careful about portion size and the amount I eat. Even if I’m eating good stuff (which I’m not always, I must admit), I need to recognise when I’ve had enough.

I’ve lost 31.8lb since last October. I have been lower than that at times, but that’s where I am at the moment.

    Comment by Debs — July 23, 2007 @ 2:47 pm |Edit This

  23. 216/192/145

Down 2 from last week. Too bad it’s the same few pounds I keep losing and gaining! :(

But anyway, I’ve lost 24 pounds since joining in January. :D

    Comment by Bethany — July 23, 2007 @ 3:13 pm |Edit This

  24. 216/209/150

Down 1.5 from last week. And it would be more if my sister wasn’t here visiting and I was so weak! She keeps getting sweet stuff at night and I keep giving in and sharing it with her.

As for my total, well, as far as my stats go, I have lost 7 pounds, but I have lost those pounds three times now, so really, that’s 21! Ack!

Ok, I have lost those pounds for the last time! On to the next 7…

  25. 170/163.0/120

I was at 192ish when I was pregnant (had baby March 29th and got back down to 170 fairly quickly so I don’t know if that counts. But I have lost 7 lbs so far since Mayish. Charlotte

  26. 231.5/189.5/160

  27. 207.5/159/120ish

No change this week. GRRRRRRRRR! I’m giving up carbs after 5pm and changing my workouts to see if I can get beyond this little plateau.

    - 48.5 since I joined WW, but probably down around 70 since I started on my own.

There & Back Again (did you know I was gone?) (Lady Laura)

A couple-three weeks ago, I emailed Blest that I was taking a bit of a break from this lovely site. I wondered why she never emailed me back but didn’t think much of it. And then, yesterday I was cleaning out the email folders and Lo and Behold, there it was inDrafts!

So, here I am back again after never announcing I was leaving. How’s that for awkward and embarrassing?

I don’t remember what my last weigh-in was but this week I was 144 at one point. Then my Aunt came to visit (ahem) and I stayed the same! I have been walking early every weekday morning for about 30 minutes and doing at least an hour on my bike or on a hiking trail each week-end day.

That is all well and good, but I have also been under some personal stress these past couple of weeks and when that happens to me, I don’t overeat, I under-eat. I have no appetite and only eat to stay alive, it seems. All very healthy and so on, but not my usual portions. In the meantime, as I am feeling better, I find I am full much faster and still can’t eat what I used to. I’ll be spending a couple of days this week measuring my portions and figuring my calories to see what, if any, adjustments need to be made. In other words, maybe it just seems I am eating too little but I’m actually on target.

I feel good and strong physically so I don’t expect to learn anything scary (with the calories) but I certainly don’t recommend the Emotional-Turmoil-to-Shrink-the-Stomach plan.

  2. I hope you are doing ok. Its hard enough to go through a tough time in life, but with food worries, it just makes it harder! Good luck! I, like most people, over eat when stressed. Not to mention many other times…tired, bored, procrastinating. Ok, I guess I need a hobby!

    Good luck! Hang in there!

Real blog? (Anne)

I started a new blog! Up until now, I’ve used my blog mostly for more of an online journal when I’m at work or somewhere that I do not want to pull out my actual journal. Thus, it is heavily password protected and cannot be accessed by anyone but me. But, I decided that it was time to start a “real” blog — one that was public. So, you can find it here. It’s not much more than a shell right now, but I do have up one picture of my glass mosaic window (it’s seriously 2′x3.5′ big… it’s huge!).

I don’t know how to add this to the blogroll…. so Blest, can you do that?sapphic sweet licking moviespanties upskirt movies andjapanese free movies pornmovies large sex vids freeblacksonblondes moviesscenes movie sexylist best teen moviessuck dick movieMap

Beach Babes! (Blest)

Today was a banner day in my weight loss journey.  As you may recall, it was the sight of photos taken at VBS that really smacked it home to me that I was….well…way too FAT.  This picture is the only one which did not get deleted.

Today my South Beach Mama (as Brandi so aptly termed it  ) and I posed for pictures in front of the VBS “beach”. How apropos!

Busy Bekki (Bekki)

While you get on with posting wonderful things about this site, can I take advantage of one of those lovely things and ask you to pray for me? Starting tomorrow, I’ll be working on a two week residential course. I’m one of the course organisers, so I have to run round doing lots of things. Can you pray for energy and good sleep and that I’ll make good food choices. I’ll be living on conference food which tends to be on the rich and greasy side and I know as I get tired, my judgement gets poorer.

I’ll also be away from my scales, so won’t be weighing in for a while, but might have the odd few minutes to check in and say hi. Thanks!

Okay…  It’s less than a week til our big One Year Anniversary here at OWOA!!  But I wanna start the party early. (I’m in a partying mood!)  Here’s what I want to do. I want to have the longest comment thread we have ever had here on the site.  It won’t rival this, of course, but we’ll do our best!  I want a running list of all the fabulous, marvelous, wonderful things about this site, eating right, exercising, and of course - losing weight.  I don’t care how small the thought is -  I want it listed!  And only ONE thing per comment.  So comment a LOT!

The great thing is…
