So I have this pair of black pants… I bought them years ago - best I can figure is that it was Summer ‘02 before our littlest was conceived. I was losing weight at the time and my Lane Bryant 16s were getting a bit loose. I went shopping and tried on these cool black crops (remember I have crop length legs) in a Lane Bryant 14. They were REALLY tight - so I did that squat thing that we do to stretch pants a bit - you know like when they come out of the dryer.
The pants split.
And so I, consumed by guilt and embarassment, folded them neatly and bought them. I knew my mom could mend them (she did) and then I could shrink into them (I didn’t). They’ve been lurking in my closet ever since, mended but unworn.
You see where this is going.
Today my L.B. 16 shorts all felt too loose. No big deal really, since I was just taking Andrew to drum lessons. But I don’t want to be wearing loose clothes. It encourages diet laxity, dontcha know. So my mind turned to those pants. I had tried them on a few weeks ago- and there was NO way they were fit for the public eye. I couldn’t even fasten them… No, no. They aren’t going to fit. You know they won’t fit. Yeah well. I’m wearing them right now!!!! I put them on, and they fit, and I wore them out, and they are so comfortable that I still have them on!!!!!!
And while I’m being ecstatically happy, may I add that I’ve lost 1.8 lbs since yesterday?! I thought I looked puffy!
YIPPEE!!
Cool! Way cool.

That is FABULOUS!!!! WTG!!! I did laugh about splitting the pants. I once tried on a top in the dressing room that I couldn’t get off. I was in tears with my arms stuck above my head praying in the dressing room that the Lord would “please help me”. Finally I was free (fortunately without ripping it).

Well good! I’m glad you laughed! You were supposed to!
I know exactly what you’re talking about with the top. I’ve been trapped in ball gowns before - I honestly thought I might suffocate before getting free!

Yeah well… I mean, I like it and all. But the stress which comes every Fall as I have to shop for one…OY.
I just can’t wait until next year when, God willing, I will be shopping in the normal sections of department stores and have tons to choose from! Oh…I can’t imagine what it’s like to be standing there with - like -five that fit and look good and going “Now which one shall I choose”
Usually it’s more like a desperate hunt for that one gown that is pretty enough and classy enough (I’m VERY particular) and actually fits! And doesn’t cost a gazillion dollars.
But yes, it is FUN to get all dolled up for the Ball. I’ll definitely be taking pictures!
