You guys know that I was really bummed about my weigh in yesterday. Food-wise I totally didn’t deserve it but that’s how it goes sometimes. Well, during the pep-talk my husband was giving me we discussed how my eating more (which is totally necessary) had caused me to not drink nearly enough water (probably why the stones flared up also). Then we discussed exercise and how difficult it’s been for me to get in something strenuous enough on a consistant basis….oh and my 2 year old recently broke our VCR WITH my favorite pilates tape in it. We rarely use the VCR for anything except my old workout tapes. Anyway, I have a very small window of opportunity each day to workout and if I miss it, I miss it that day. I explained this frustration to my husband who suggested that maybe I needed to run the stairs while the kids napped. ACK!!
I have NEVER been a fan of the stair-machine at gyms. Well, I didn’t argue or anything I just nodded and said I’d try it. So yesterday (despite the fact that my kids really didn’t nap at all but kept getting up and playing), I grabbed my ipod and did the stairs. I didn’t run up and down them because I knew I wouldn’t make it past a minute if I did. Also, it was raining and the steps were a bit slick. I only made it five minutes before my legs felt they would collapse.
When my husband got home I told him I could only do five minutes and how frustrating that was because I need to work out longer than that. He then suggested that I go for a walk after dinner so with my 8 yo son in tow (the others were stalling with their dinner) I set out for a walk. My son and I did 36 minutes with some jogging thrown in for good measure. My legs are killing me today! They are so wobbly I look ridiculous when I walk lol. It did feel good to push myself though - I just need to do this on a more consistant basis.
YOU GO GIRL!!!!! I am so proud of you. Hurray for wobbly legs and feeling great about your workout. (((((BLAIR)))))

You wanna come be my workout partner? Way to go!!! I too have been having a hard time working out. I have a small window of oppurtunity at 5am. I used to go for walks after the kids woke up bit it’s too cool now to take them. They are up by 6am and don’t take naps together.
I know you can keep at it!

Going up and down stairs when you can’t get out to do anything else sounds a great plan. I’ll have to try that - maybe tomorrow when the boy I child-mind takes a nap

Way to go! Even when things are tough, you are hanging in there. And hurray for wobbly legs. It shows that you really did work hard. The results WILL start to show up with that kind of determination.
