  1. 200/163.4/160

Down 1.6 this week. Hooray! That goal’s getting closer.
Today’s actually being a rather stressful day (work stress mostly), but at least it started with some good news.

  2. I got in a 7 mile bike trek, which made me happy. :)

    151/143/132, down 1 since last official weigh-in.

  3. Well its a beautiful day at my house. 178. Down 6 pounds! That is 12 pounds since I started the Beach! This is the least I have weighed since before I got pregnant with my 1st baby. Its a very happy day here. I have to gloat sightly. Last night we have a few friends over for dinner. I made a couple of pies and ohhhhh how I wanted a piece. I didn’t even lick the bowl or taste the cool whip! Miraculous! I did however eat sugar-free jello while they all had their fill.

Here is my question. I still really want some things I can’t have. Should I not go off phase 1 yet? Like it took all I had not to have some pie. I read to move on after 2 weeks as long as you cravings have gone away. I don’t know if that will ever happen. Any suggestions?

  5. 216/183/140 down 2. Trying real hard to stay on track. Made a batch of oat muffins to snack on ONE a day. Trying Bird’s boiled egg in the morning - no yolk, though, so I eat 2. My health nut Father is coming in today for a 10 day visit - I’m excited to see him and have a Foodie to share with! Have a great week, ya’ll!

  6. How do you have a boiled egg without eating the yolk? Unless you mean a hard boiled egg (like 10 minutes or so), in which case you can take the yolk out.

  7. 136.4 — up about 3 pounds from the last time I weighed-in, which is about what I expected. I have a huge exam in 10 days, so my goal is to maintain for about 2 weeks and then jump back on board full-force. But still — I weigh a full eight pounds LESS than I did 1 year ago; I’m happy!

  8. 152/147.5/128 - no change. I did well on the exercising this week - four times, but I think I’ve been slacking in the watching my snacking, thinking that it’s ‘okay’ to have a little bowl of ice cream in the evening, or an extra helping of a delicious dinner just because I’ve been exercising.

Way to go Bekki - you’re so close to your goal! And Nikki, you’re doing awesome - it must feel great to weigh less than before you had your babies! I’m not sure about the cravings, I can’t imagine that my carb cravings would ever go away either (although I’ve never done South Beach). Hopefully someone will know the answer to that.

  9. 130. Life is returning to a routine. Exercising. Eating fairly healthy. Not too many snacks. Next week my sister-in-law is coming to hang out for a couple of days. Shopping to look forward to. Yeah!

  10. Nikki, how long have you been on the Beach? Today marks my 1 week and I still have aweful cravings for sweets. I was doing Body For Life before so I’d settle my sweet tooth because I’d have a protein bar or a protein shake and add fruit and now on Phase 1 I can’t have that. I’ve been trying to settle my craving by having a sugar free fudgsicle or 2 pieces of Lindt 70% cocoa dark chocolate squares and that helps a little. Every 2-3 days or so though, I’d have a Hills Bros. English Toffee Cappuccino (made with water). That’s probably a no-no, but it helped me stay away from other bad sweets and snacking.
So, I’m tempted to see what others have to say, if there cravings every go away or do they just learn to manage them.

    Down 4.8 lbs

2TEENS, here I am. Yeah…I am SOOOOO EXCITED…my hard work on week 1 of Phase 1 on the Beach paid off…I finally made it to the 2Teens. It was hard work, took lots and lots of self discipline but I made it. My goal for next week

    Comment by Cristina — September 10, 2007 @ 8:07 am |Edit This

  12. Cristina,

You have to do what works for you — if a toffee cappuccino every few days keeps you on plan, than I’d say stick with it (I’m not a Beach-er right now, but I have tried it). Great job and congrats on the 2teens!

  13. 207 today, which is down .4lb from last Monday. My initial goal was stopping the gain, so this is definitely a step in the right direction. I made some choices that were better this past week, too, which was good.

  14. Christina-

I am 12 days into phase 1. Its challenging to stay on track, but some how I have managed. I rely on the sugar-free fudgsicles and sugar-free jello. I indulge in an occasional sugar-free vanilla latte with non fat milk. I get that at Starbucks. It helps a lot, and I don’t think it is a no-no. Its hard but I decided I can do anything for 2 weeks.

    Comment by Nikki — September 10, 2007 @ 8:44 am |Edit This

  15. Ladies, according to the book you need to do what you need to do. Meaning, if you’ve done your 2 weeks and think that adding a piece of fruit would really help then go to phase 2. If you want to stay on phase 1 for another week, then by all means do it. As I read I am finding a joy with SB. It’s not about weighing our food, only eating specific foods with other foods, not totally depriving ourselves. You all are doing so well! I am proud of us all!

  16. So, I totally had to have Jeff read the scale this morning because I was so excited I didn’t want to look. I have weighed daily (against advice) because I’m obsessive like that. Always have been and probably always will. I must say that I told myself I would do this (although there were a couple days where a bad voice popped in my head and said I couldn’t) and I did it. I got through 1 week without bad carbs and fruit. Oh, I’m sorry, are you all waiting to know what the scale said. Here I am just rambling on. You know, I’m great about that. Just ask my husband. Poor man. Last night while he was trying to watch the game I just kept reading to him from the SB book. Oh, ya know what else…wait I’ll put that in a spunk category. Have I gone on and on enough yet????
Last week when I looked at the scale it read 190. This morning….(I’m so giddy) the scale read 181. 9 pounds gone in 1 week. 1 week people. Now I know that it will slow down drastically but I’m living in the glory of 9 pounds in 7 days. I thought that was impossible for a woman.
212/181/175(stg) I’ve had to change my short term goal because of this. Geesh!

  17. I’ve gotta tell ya one more thing. By staying on track and seeing the weightloss continually, it’s easy to not take a bit of the kid’s cookie at Kroger. It’s easy to drive past Pizza Hut and not want the buffet. Stick with it girls!

  20. Nikki — Hey, I’m commenting here instead of on the Debs-moving-to-the-US post because I think you’ll see it here first — I’m in CA now, too! Just started at Stanford. So you’re not the only west-coaster :)

  23. 264/239.6/130 down 2.8, and I’m in the 230s! :-D . Not going back either!

Only .6 to my short term goal of 239/25 lbs lost. I am looking forward to my next goal of 234/30 lbs off - and even more to the 220s. only 9.6 to go to get there.

No change but that’s ok as I went down lots last week. Well done Tami and Tracy and Cristina and Nikki for your great losses and everyone else I might have missed.
I keep recommending the ‘beach’ to people who ask me how I’ve done it. I think its a great programme.
Several spunks today from people who haven’t seen me since before the summer break. Feels good.

A friend of mine is about to embark on the beach and has asked for my support. At the moment she is reading the book and getting her head around it. I would introduce her to the blog but it really isn’t her thing. She has recently come off a course of strong steroids for eye problems which have put the weight on, and she is hoping the beach will be the ‘weigh to go’ for her. Any experience out there? Is it harder to lose steroid related weight gain?

  26. I weighed in this morning at 163.something (I don’t remember the exact number). I was really expecting to be higher because my last month has been nuts. I started working full time again and I’m struggling to figure out a work out schedule with my new work/job schedule. I’ve been this weight now for the last 2-3 months. It is hard to stay motivated because I’m actually pretty happy with how I look right now. I’m in a size 10 and I don’t feel like the fat girl anymore. I eat things that I shouldn’t but fortunately I just work them off at the gym. I really do want to get into the 150’s though because I know that any weight I lose will really improve my running times.
