  1. So I really don’t want to report today. Especially since I am the first one. GRRRR. Can I get out of it? Just this one little Monday?

Hey, my friend is going to weigh in with us this week. I hope that is fine with all of you. She is a peach. You’re gonna love her. She just started the beach this weekend.

Yeah, well I guess its time to report my 1st gain…Up 3! I know! I think it must have been too many healthy carbs and not enough veggies! I am going to lose 4 pounds this week. Then I will be the same weight as when I got married! Oh yeah! I was only 1 lb away last week!!! I am going to be sooooo good this week. Hold me to it!

  3. 210/149.4/145

Down 1.4 and check it out people - I’m in the 140s!!

I’m going to be sending a bunch of recipes to my mom (who will be helping my grandmother make Thanksgiving dinner) so that I know there will be something I can eat when I get there. Gran’s usual T’giving fare just won’t work.

  4. 130. Still.

Halloween for us is the annual go-out-to-dinner-to-avoid-handing-out-candy night. There will not be any bite size candies in our house. But they are everywhere else - work, Bible Study, the office supply store - and it’s very hard to walk a wide circle around them. I confess that I often cave in.

  5. 200/170.2/160

Up 2.4, I think. Grrr. Too many second helpings and cheats.
At least I’m doing better on the exercise front. I met my goal of some exercise everyday and going to the gym once last week. This week, I aim to go to the gym on Wednesday and Friday. I’ve just had a session with a trainer to help me put together an exercise program and it was hard work, but good to set some goals and give me a framework.

But I have an action plan ( see my post)
ok, gotta go find postman pat or thomas the tank engine…

  7. 137.8 this week. Which is 1.8 down from last week. I still think part of it is water-water-everywhere, since I flew yesterday… but I’m happy with a loss! Am slowly jumping back on board. Happy Monday to all!

  9. 128.8

Fighting off ridiculous amts of bloat. Last week I went up seven pounds from Monday to Tuesday… I looked so pregnant! I think it’s related to my surgery (as in swelling)- cause there’s also been quite a bit of pain/discomfort. Have I been to the doctor? Uh..no. After all, they’ll just say “Hmmm. That’s odd. Come back if it gets worse.” Phooey!

I am at a convention right now where there are sugary snacks EVERYWHERE!!!!!

It is not a temptation at ALL…actually sounds yucky because I’ve got that junk out of my system. Sugar is of he devil :-)

And this is coming from a former sugar-addict who last year by this time (day 2 of the Convention) had probably had a few donuts, cookies and candy bars…not to mention the salty snacks like chips. Yes, it was sad.

  11. 239.8/215.4/207 (by Thanksgiving)
I’m down .8 from my last weigh in 2 weeks ago.

Kind of frustrating because I’ve been working out hard and trying to not snack. I’ve done pretty good although I have eaten some candy here and there BUT I try to make up for it with working out. Anyways, I’ll take the .8 loss. Last week I was up so I didn’t oficially weigh in. I had gone on a scrapbooking retreat over the weekend and I ate aweful. So when I got back I got back on Phase 1 with my husband.

My goal for Thanksgiving is 207 and that’s still attainable…IF I STAY COMPLETELY ON TRACK!

So, I’ve got another week of Phase 1 with my husband. I WILL stick to it! My hubbie lost 9 lbs!

I think I’ll be OK thru Halloween..I’m a little nervous about cheating..don’t want the whole upset tummy thing!

I’ll be prepared with South Beach snack bars just in case I’m tempted!!

Blest..You should really go get checked out at the Dr..but you already know that? :) Hope you feel better!

  16. 168 exactly which is goal again although up .8 from last week. Quite pleased with that though considering it was half term week (more chance to be around food) and we had a couple of days away with some very ‘not south beach’ food comsumed.

Actually Brandi’s comment reminded me that at our bed and breakfast place I found the marmalade or jam on offer with the toast just too sweet. They didn’t have any marmite (yeast extract - do you have that in US?) which I fancied so I bought myself some for the second morning!

Well done all who lost and well done for those who were confessing this week, we value the honesty. Blest please look after yourself properly and do what is necessary re medic’s.

It’s going a bit slow, but it’s going, I guess. But after running around the science museum, and then the park, with 21 kindergarteners today, I’m SURE I dropped a couple more pounds!

All the Halloween candy doesn’t frighten me. I’ve almost become immune. Ever since last school year I could keep a jar/box of candies right next to my desk and eat maybe one a week, if that!

    Comment by Debbie (Bird's sis) — October 29, 2007 @ 4:26 pm |Edit This

  23. Oh, and about marmite, Elly: you can find it here in the States if you’re looking for it, but it is by no means in high demand. It’s always included in the section of the grocery store that has British foods. At least where I live; it’s a very diverse city.

  25. They say about marmite you either love it or you hate it. Since I’m in the hate category I won’t need to worry about buying it once I’m there! But it’s interesting to know what stuff is the same and what’s different. I think food stuff (shopping, but even just looking in Blest’s pantry) will be an eye-opener the first few times with all the unfamiliar brand names!

  26. 153/142/128 - No change from two weeks ago when I last weighed in, which is a little discouraging since I feel like I’m getting so close to the 130s, and yet I should be thankful because it wasn’t a good two weeks. Spent several days at my parents’ and I tend to eat constantly when I’m there - not sure if it’s just the availability of food I don’t have to make, or if it’s stress over various issues in our family, I don’t know.

Nikki - you can do it!! You know it will feel so great to be at that weight once again!

  1. 267.2 Down .6 from last week. But hopefully some of that is water retention due to is being ‘that time’ again, because I’m sure i did better than that this week.
Aim for this week - get more exercise!

  2. 190/166/150

Down 3 pounds this week! Its a happy day. Especially because I had a dream last night that I had pasta 2 days in a row! Glad it was just a dream! Here is a spunk to go with my weigh in. Yesterday my mom asked how much I weigh so that she knows how much she should lose to look like me. Oh yeah! I was so excited. Then when I told her, my dad said he though I was around 145, and surprised I weigh so much. It was a great weekend!

  3. 209.4/199.2/150 [230s highest ever]

Yay!!! I’m officially down 10 pounds since re-starting my food tracking and (very slowly) adding in exercise. I really feel that God is calling me to get my eating under control and become healthier this time around, and that’s making it easier to do. I have still had some not-so-good days, but it’s easier to remember that as long as I get right back on track as soon as I can, I’ll eventually get there. Now that I’ve inched back into the hundreds (!) my next short term goal is to reach the 180s, hopefully by the new year.

I’m actually down 2 despite a pretty bad week. Probably water retention last Monday. My aim for this week is to keep to a routine of getting up at a sensible hour and going to the library in the morning, get some exercise every day and go to the uni gym at least once.

  6. Debs–Hey, a loss is a loss, ESPECIALLY during this time :-)
    Nikki–that’s GREAT!!
    Lorri–congrats! Great job!
    Bekki–super!

120…still goal tending. I have to say, it feels weird not dieting anymore. Yet, I am not going hog-wild. That would be foolish after I have come this far. Besides, I LOVE the Beachy way of eating! I don’t know when I will have white sugar or flour again.

  7. 257/183/145ish +2
Alright, the damage was done and I do have somewhat of an action plan in motion for this week. Last night I sat down and wrote out my meal and snack plan for the entire week and I will stick with it! It’s on the fridge and before bfast this morning and for a snack I referred to it. It’s not just what I can eat, it’s what I will be eating for that particular moment.

Secondly, I changed the number in the beginning of the number sequence to reflect where I started when I started this weight loss. I found OWOA long after I began working (semi working I guess…). I changed it because I REALLY need to see continually where I’ve been, what I’ve accomplished and tell myself that I CAN accomplish these last 40 pounds. Today I am literally 2/3 of the way there.

I need some major accountability guys. If anyone feels led to check in on me a lot I’d really appreciate it. I really need it.

My goals this week are to eat according to what I already have planned out and go to the gym Mon-Fri. I also want to spend time with the Lord EVERY morning when I get up which requires getting up at 5am with Jeff since the little ones get up between 6 and 6:30.

I want to weigh 175 by Thanksgiving and it is going to take work!

  8. Great job guys.. I am so glad I started weighing with you all!

  13. (blest is grateful for the cheekiness of Debs!)

    128.4

My goals are all about continuing to tone what I got! I am not satisfied with just keeping the weight the same. I want to continue to gain in strength and fitness.

    Comment by blestwithsons — October 22, 2007 @ 11:39 am |Edit This

  14. Nikki, I’m 5′5″. According to charts I’m supposed to be somewhere between…oh I forget. Something like 115-135 however when I was 232 my Dr. said that if I could get to 150 (and stay) he would be very happy. Some German bones going on in this body! ;-)
We’ll see. It’s funny because when I was 257 my goal was 175 and a size 14. Yeah…that goal so changed. I’m shooting for 145 but just like many of the gals here it’s not solid. The end result may change a wee bit.

    Comment by Tami — October 22, 2007 @ 11:51 am |Edit This

  15. Yeah my goal was 160, but that totally changed too. Its funny when you get closer to the number you think you want to be at and go…oh I have way more fat than I thought I would at this number! I am 1lb heavier than when I got married, but way way way fatter! You will do so well. You have done so well!

    Comment by Nikki — October 22, 2007 @ 11:54 am |Edit This

  16. Well done to all those losses. Tami you have come so far. Well done for the plan of action, so much eaier to cope when you are organised.
I was down 2 to lowest ever 167.2 (up last week)which is good but this is about where I want to be so I expect to go and up and down a little around the 168 mark.
I think my goal at the moment is to not gain again which seems a little negative in a way. i think its cos I can’t quite believe i got here.

Another goal for this week is to be productive with the time as its half-term adn I am on holiday. Today has been good as we foodshopped, defrosted the freezer and made the Christmas cake - its in the oven now. Am going away with Hubby on Thursday to Devon for 2 nights. We will see HP and just have some time together. Looking forward to that ands it’s an incentive to get on and get other things done this end of the week. Sometimes I just drift through half term and then am really cross with myself at the end of it.

    Comment by Elly — October 22, 2007 @ 12:28 pm |Edit This

  17. Way to go all of you with losses! Tami - you have the right idea reminding yourself of how far you have already come. I think the food planning is a great idea, it’s so often the mindless eating when there’s no plan that gets us down (at least for me).

No weigh-in for me this week - I’m away at my parents’ for a few days and I’m sure their scale is different from ours so I’m not going to worry about it. I did go for a run on Saturday night here which felt good. I’ll try to go again tonight so it won’t have been a whole week without exercise.

  18. 239.8. staying stable.

We’re having a rough day. My husband’s cousin died last night in a car accident.

  20. Ugh. I think the number I read on my scale this morning was 139.6. I do not want to go back into the 140’s… grrr. My goal for the next few days is to make sure to eat my 5 fruits/veggies that I’ve been neglecting, and then my goal for Thurs-Sun (when I’ll be out of town) is to just eat as well as is possible. Am thinking about officially rejoining WW but don’t necessarily want to spend the money. My goal? To be back under 135 in 2 months. That’s about 2 and 1/4 pounds per month to lose, not mentioning the fact that I need to halt and reverse my upward trend. I’ve got my work cut out for me!

Since I had such a bad weekend and because my husband would also like to loose some weight, I’m back on Phase 1. This will allow me to get back on track and it’ll allow me to help him through Phase 1. I’m excited that he’s doing this with me! Yeah!

  26. Hiya ladies! And Birdo.

Our principal took all the lead teachers to Austin this weekend for a banquet, so I didn’t get back into town until TWO O’CLOCK this morning!!! Since we got in so late I stayed in town at my friend’s house.

All that to say, I wasn’t able to weigh in yesterday OR today (and my suitcase was too stuffed to take my scale w/ me; something I notice Bird & Brandi do quite often).

For the most part, my friend Melissa and I did well over the weekend, despite all the temptations. We’re out of Phase 1 and she’s already lost FIFTEEN POUNDS! I know I haven’t lost nearly that much, but we’ll just have to wait until next Monday to check.

    Y’all have a great week!

  4. Way to go Brandi!!!!!

153/142/128 - I was surprised to see a loss this morning as I was feeling ‘fat’ this week, not sure why. Too many nights where I had a bowl of cereal before bed, I suspect. *Ü* Even with the loss I think I need to refocus a bit this week and not allow myself so many ‘treats’ like I did this week. Didn’t help that I made buns for a dinner with friends this week…there’s nothing like homemade buns!!

I wish it would be in the 80s, Blest!! It’s a high in the low 50s today, and that’s warmer than it could be! Gotta love northern living!

  5. Wow Brandi! Congratulations!!!!!! I’m so excited for you. As for me…Not so much. No change yet again. 190/169/150 again. That is 2 weeks that has had no change. I guess I have had a few too many pumpkin muffins. Oh but they are so good! Thanks for that recipe by the way Blest!

On a happy note, people keep talking about how my clothes are falling off of me. I have had a few people tell me to go buy new pants! That always feels good. And my husband refers to me as skinny lady sometimes. I gotta say, I love to hear him say that!!!

I will be done with my wonderful newspaper route Wednesday night, and look forward to getting on the treadmill after that.

  9. Yay, Brandi! When are you guys publishing an artistically photographed cook book?

    Lady Laura, you’re awesome, too!

Dawn & Christy still going down like an elevator!

Blest, it hurts when you kick booty, huh?

Nikki, so glad to hear you’re getting relieved from the route. Less stress will make the weight roll off!

Okay, no weighing for me, yet - so I reserve the right to cheer! But I can tell you that Back-To-Phase-One is going well. This time, I’m indulging in the sugar free jello, and that certainly helps the carb-withdrawal. I wasn’t really eating many carbs before - but they definitely had the best of me. I am hopeful that my weigh-in for the first Monday of November will be phenomenal!

    Good Day!

  10. Well done Brandi!

I have not done so well. 200/169.8/160
Up 1.4, I think. That would be the result of eating too much pudding on my birthday. There are still too many cake and chocolate things around, which I’m working on getting rid of (i.e. getting other people to take them away/eat them up so I won’t).
On the positive side, I’ve just got back from my induction session at the uni gym. It was very scary, I’ve never joined a gym before. Now I have at least been inside one and been on some of the machines. It’s still a bit intimidating, too many sporty guys around doing things with weights. Which is more self-conscious-making than distracting. I’ve booked a session in a couple of weeks time to work out a training program. I hope I can get over my fear, learn some new stuff and start continue getting fitter and thinner.

  16. 239.8/216.2/207 by Thanksgiving (Nov.22)

    Down .4

I’m a little frustrated. I *think* I did good all week (I say think since I didn’t journal what I ate) except for the weekend and I still only lost .4

I really *think* I did good all week but on Saturday evening I caved into some candy corn and on Sunday we went to the Pumpkin Patch and afterwards we went to Red Robin where I had a grilled chicken burger and fries and then went home and had more candy corn and kettle corn. :( So, I was BAAAAAD on Sunday. BUT I worked out SOOOOooooo hard during the week. On Monday I did 2 spin cycle classes, on Tue/Wed/Thur I did a Tone&Sculpt class and on Thursday I also went before T&S and did 45 min cardio, on Friday I did a sports conditioning class and on Saturday I did a spin cycle class AND a tone and sculpt class.

It really is so frustrating because I work out so hard. I think I have a slow metabolism. I went for a check up last week and I had the Dr test my thyroid, so I’ll be tempted to see how that test comes back (I’ve always heard that that can play a part with your slow metabolism). On the one hand, I hope that’s what it is so that I know why I have such a hard time getting the scale to go down, but on the other hand, I probably don’t want to have thyroid problems.

I have a heart rate monitor that sits in my drawer since the batteries ran out, but I think I’m going to get it going again and start wearing it again to see how I’m
    doing.

Anyways, hopefully next week will be better. Although I’m leaving town Fri-Sun for a scrapbook retreat, so I sure do hope the B&B we’re staying at has some healthy options.

    Comment by Cristina — October 15, 2007 @ 12:37 pm |Edit This

  17. Oh…and I also did 45 min cardio on Sunday..30 min elliptical and 15 min treadmill and I jogged 4.5 minutes!

    Grrrrrr…..

    Comment by Cristina — October 15, 2007 @ 12:41 pm |Edit This

  18. Christina, you could be working out too much compared to what you are eating. Another note…if I ate what you had on Sat evening and Sun I would hold so much water that I would gain between 3 and 5 pounds for a few days but if I was VERY faithful to eating healthily and drinking LOTS of water I will loose it within a few days.

    Comment by Tami — October 15, 2007 @ 1:08 pm |Edit This

  19. Yay, Brandi and Lady Laura!!!

Kellie- you have already lost 30 pounds! That’s a huge accomplishment. Don’t give up, even though I know it’s discouraging.

    As for me,
    216/196/150

That’s up like .4 from two weeks ago at my last weigh in. I was horrified to come home from my trip last week to see a 5-pound gain, when I thought I had done good enough to lose one or two!!! So that gain will be gone by tomorrow morning, which is like 5 pounds in one week, but still, it evens out to a two-week stall in loss :(

    Comment by Christy — October 15, 2007 @ 1:24 pm |Edit This

  20. Hi Tami, I know…it could be water retention and I really really hope that’s what it is. You mentioned that I could be working out too much compared to what I’m eating but if that were the case, wouldn’t I loose? That’s what I think, although obviously I’m wrong. My husband says he notices a difference and that I look thinner and that I’m probably gaining muscle…which is probably true…but I still want those numbers on the scale to go down!

    Comment by Cristina — October 15, 2007 @ 1:32 pm |Edit This

  21. Up 1.2 this week to 169.2 but hey I expect to hover around my goal rather than stick there completely. Put it down to Bekki’s party at the weekend.

Well done Brandi, so excited for you enjoy those raisins. And Laura too, glad you are happy with your body.

Nikki I am so proud of you that you have made it through this awful paper round and kept going on the diet. Glad the end is in sight now.
Kellie keep hanging in there. We are cheering you on.
Congrats to everyone else too. I think I get a bit confused with the names sometimes. We have Cristina, Christy F and Christy! I think that’s three of you. Forgive me if I am wrong. Will get you sorted one day.

    Comment by Elly — October 15, 2007 @ 1:44 pm |Edit This

  22. Christina, you are gaining muscle weight.
As for working so much, not eating enough so the thought that you should loose weight…wrong train of thought. If you are not getting enough food your body goes into starvation mood and starts to hold onto EVERYTHING you put into your mouth. It sounds crazy but I swear it’s the truth (personal experience and much research).
Don’t give up. Journal what you are eating. Maybe try to increase some protien after workouts.

  30. Kellie - don’t quit! I know it’s hard! Believe me! I didn’t even weigh in this morning because I’ve been sick and didn’t want to see it, but I’m. NOT. GOING. TO. QUIT.

So you don’t quit either! Keep taking it one moment at a time - I KNOW how hard it is when thyroid isn’t in the right gear. I know how hard it is to lose just a little at a time and feel like it’s going to be forever. But every day is a victory if we keep trying!

    So please - don’t quit!

  31. I tried weighing in earlier, but it didn’t post; so let’s try this again. Here’s my comment from this afternoon:

Ok, this is my first weigh in ever so I’m a bit nervous, but here it goes:

    232/227.8/149

Eeeekkk!!! Can’t believe I just did that!

So I forgot to weigh myself last Monday when I started SB Phase I, but the starting weight is from Tues morning.

I was going to put 150 as goal but 145 has been stuck in my head, so I just decided to put 149 ’cause it looks a bit better than 150 but not as impossible as 145. Not that I’m fully convinced that 149 is possible, but we shall see . . .

So there we go. Hopefully I’ll get my friend Melissa to weigh in with us later. I look forward to getting to know you ladies!

  38. 185/174.5/145

Down 1 from last week. I’m glad to see the continued downward trend. I changed over from Phase 1 to Phase 2 this last week. It was harder to go from knowing all the things I couldn’t eat to changing to all the good things that I can choose from and trying to decide how much of each to add back.

I am frustrated that I hurt my foot and I haven’t been able to work out this week. I sprained my toe (next to the baby toe) last Sunday. It never bruised like when I’ve broken a toe in the past. Now only my foot is hurting. It hurts on the top of my foot where my toe attaches on up into my foot. Now I’m trying to decide if I need to go in to see the doctor or not. I really want to get back to my exercise routine, but I’m concerned that I won’t be able to work out for 4-6 weeks. Sigh!

Anyway, I’m cheering for those that have reached their goal as well as for those that need some inspiration!
    Go Team Go!

    Blessings, D’Aun

Grr, I’m up 3.8. Totally my own fault, a stressful weekend, to which I reacted by just eating and eating, to which my body reacted pretty badly. I feel terrible today. It’s so annoying how easily bad habits I thought I’d kicked pop up again. This week I want to get back on the wagon and calm down. It’s my birthday on Saturday and I’m hosting a party. I intend to make lots of healthy things to eat so I won’t be tempted to pig out on sugar.

I think I just need to get myself to the doctors and hopefully get it sorted out once and for all - the problem is that just as I’m deciding I ought to go to the doctors it gets better again. However, i do want to be well for moving to Texas.

Yep…up 4. I’d love to blame something other than myself but it was me, all me. I didn’t eat much at all and then when I did it was totally junk. Jeff was gone and I found that while he was gone I just didn’t care about myself. It’s weird but a great thing. It’s easy for me to say “no” when he is here because I’m looking out for him. When he’s gone I just figure what the heck. Am working on it and really seeking God with this new self discovery. Okay…must hop in the shower. Paige (trainer) worked my muscles today.

  16. 220/168/168.
Down .6 and whoopee hit the target.
I think God is good. You know how weights fluctuate a bit from day to day and I have been below goal(just) but not on a monday so today it was so exciting to hit goal exactly.
And its one year exactly since Debs and I started South Beach. How’s that for perfect timing.
So what’s next - well keeping here is the next thing. I have relaxed a little but not sure I should let up too much yet. I don’t want to expand out of all the new clothes I have just bought.

Exercise just isn’t happening at all and I am not sure what to do about it. Haven’t even been swimming lately although did go for a walk with hubby last Thursday. Life seems so hectic fitting in preparation for my teaching around all the normal things and being treasurer for our local dyslexia support group. So many of the things I do involve sitting at a desk or a computer which don’t excatly burn the calories off or get rid of the flab.
However am beginning to catch up with myself a little as far as work goes so maybe I can feel less pressured and able to take time out for exercise and keeping fit.

Lets keep encouraging each other, I am certainly not going to sign off. Its so exciting being involved in other peoples stories. My friend Rosie who isn’t really into blogging but has picked up the South Beach thing from me has just lost her first 7 lb. I am so proud of her. we work in the same place as well as being churh friends so we are managing to have brief support meetings in between work (not in time we should be working you may be glad to here)

Better stop going on. I am bad at long comments. I know I ought to post properly but somehow don’t get round to it.

  25. *and she slinks in at 10:52pm pacific time*

hi, folks! i’m back. for real this time. i weighed in this morning at 138.4, which is 5.6 pounds LESS than i weighed at this time last year. blest, thanks for posting last year’s WI… that made me feel better. i’m up about 4-5 pounds (we’ll round to 5) since my lower (weight-wise) points in june/july. since then i’ve started to fall in love (girlish squeal, and that’s all the details you’re getting), moved cross-country, and re-taken my qualifying exam here. and have eaten my way through that. but i stand before you very, very sore because i did a 5k fun run yesterday and actually ran almost half of it. i love running, and i want to get back into it. so that’ll be my exercise plan. and i’m trying to decide whether or not to sign back up for ww meetings to lose these last 10 pounds and get myself under 130. my goal is to lose 5 by thanksgiving and the other 5 by next march. i feel like 2 pounds a month should be reasonable? i realize it sounds kinda wimpy, but it’ll be a lot of muscle building too.

all that to say, i’m trying to get back on track with food. i’m cooking dinner for myself every night this week, and that’ll solve a lot of problems. i just need to not eat too much of all the yummy, good things.

happy monday night to all of you! i’ll be back around more now, i think… i need to be.

  29. 168/160/130… Down 1!!I had actually lost that one before I left on my trip.. So I am pretty happy that I didn’t gain while I was home. I did make good choices while there. It was not that bad at all!

  30. 152/144/128 - I meant to ‘cheat’ a little and weigh myself on Sunday morning rather than Monday since Sunday was Canadian Thanksgiving, but I forgot… so went ahead on Monday morning despite having eaten the big turkey dinner Sunday night. I stuck to just one smallish helping of everything, but still, it’s a lot of food!! So I’m happy to be down even 0.5.

Has anyone read the Abs Diet book? I’ve got it from the library right now and think it’s pretty good - I’m not following it exactly, but am doing the weight routines and trying to add a lot of the foods they suggest.

Way to go Elly! I’m sure it feels awesome to be able to post that number today!

Anne - I’ve moved our scale out to hard ground rather than on carpet. It seemed like the reading varied a lot on carpet even if I just moved my head from side to side or something, lol! Good luck with the running - I’ve started running this summer and am actually starting to like it!

    Hello again,

I originally posted on a Monday weigh in last year after clicking over from Blest’s other website, but didn’t hang around.

Here I am back again with a better game plan. My hubby had a heart test done that finally convinced him to eat healthier. We both started South Beach Phase I two weeks ago. I’ve lost 8.5 lbs. so far and I’m feeling much better in my clothes. We don’t have a scale at home so I weigh at the YMCA on Tuesday when I work out. I guess I’ll be weighing in on Tuesday. Thanks for all of the inspiration, the link to Kalyn’s Kitchen and the recipes posted here.

    See ya soon,

  33. Dawn,

I have the Abs Diet book. I liked it, but was hesitant to try it because the daily calorie intake is more than I’m eating now and I was afraid of gaining weight. He has a newer version out for women and I looked at it when I was in the bookstore. I am still considering trying it…

And, yes, I should be lean and mean by this time next year. ;-)

  1. 200/163.6/160

Down 0.8 this week. I’m going to join the gym at my uni. I went in and booked my induction session today. It’s not for another 2 weeks though. It’s a bit scary, I’ve never been to a gym before.

  2. Ok this is one of those weeks where I really don’t want to weigh-in. Because, for the second week in a row, I’m up.
I’m at 261.4 which is up 1.2 from last week. I seem to be sabotaging myself anytime I get near or under 260.
I’m not quite sure how to stop myself doing this, but I realise I need to take the bull by the horns and tackle it. Any thoughts would be helpful.

I think this past weekend one of the problems was eating too much. I’d been prepared and taken veg and dip (to the hen party I was at) and enjoyed eating those, but then I proceeded to eat pizza and icecream as well. I didn’t eat either of them in vast quantities, but I needed to have cut something out. The point of the veg was to stop me eating so much of the traditional party stuff, but I just ate both! I need to work on not being polite, as in not eating stuff just cos it’s the polite thing to do - work on my saying no. I’ll have to dig out that post Blest wrote about saying no and put it into practice.
Anyway, this comment had got too long, so I’d better stop!

  3. I don’t remember what my last weigh-in was but today I am at 143. I haven’t been very friendly with my scale as I find myself frustrated with it’s excessive fluctuations whenever I visit. It is becoming a distraction so I withhold myself from it for greater periods.

My challenges will soon be the weather. It is too dark to walk in the mornings and will soon be too dark to walk in the evenings. It’s time to get out The Bean again. :)

  4. 212/178/145 down 1.

Life is good. I plan to be 172 by the last weigh-in in October.

    Comment by Tami — October 1, 2007 @ 7:45 am |Edit This

  5. 153/144.5/128 - another pound down. I pulled out a pair of my ‘old’ jeans yesterday and lo and behold, they fit! Then pulled out another pair and…not so much. :) So I’m getting closer, at least. I was about 141 or so when I got pregnant this last time, so in theory those clothes should start fitting me.

Canadian thanksgiving is this coming weekend, so I need to plan for that. The wife of the home we will be going to for dinner is also working on losing weight, so I suspect she will have some healthier salads, dessert, etc as options - I just need to take them!

  6. 143/121/120
down 2 and one pound away from goal!

I am looking forward to experimenting with a sugar-free pumpkin or sweet potato pie and some type of healthy no-sugar an hopefully not fat-laden whipped cream/topping. I would appreciate recipes of any success you might have had with this.

Debs–I know what you mean. The closer I have gotten to my goal, the more I have found myself sabbotaging my diet by eating good things in excess.

Don’t lose heart! Blame it on us like, “I wish I could have that pizza, but I am accountable to a bunch of gals and one Bird to stay away from white flour, sugar, etc…”

If it would help, post before a party with what your goals are like staying away from certain things and we will lovingly hold you accountable ;-)

  7. I am so STUCK. I am remaining at about 240-242 all week long and I want back in the 230s. I know that I am making muscle and getting thinner in terms of inches, but it’s not enough. I want to be THIN.

I haven’t weighed in this morning yet. I’ve already been to Curves, already eaten breakfast, already called back the hospital to give insurance info because I’m having a mammogram tomorrow (screening), and I haven’t weighed in today yet.

My goal is to be in the 220s by the first weigh in of November. I CAN DO IT.

My other goal is to try an aerobics tape at home to complement my workouts at Curves. And to finish mowing the yard, which is a bit of a workout of its own.

  8. 168/161/130..Down 3 this week!

My October goal is to be in the low 150’s by the end of the month..

I am supposed to start phase 2 today …I have to admit it makes me a little nervous to leave the security of Phase 1.

I won’t be around next Monday for weigh in but should be back on Tuesday morning!

    Thanks

  9. Woo-hoo! Finally some good news. I tracked points this past week and stuck to my allotted amounts. As a result, I’m down several pounds to 204.4!

Goals for this month: keep tracking, add exercise, and hopefully crack 200.

  10. 126.8

(I’ll comment later, gotta run out the door…)

  11. Down 2.5 from last week. My challenge is that the kids and I are taking a road trip to visit a friend this week, so I need to stay careful, otherwise I could be 200 again by the end of the week!

I’m also aiming for a goal of 10 pounds this month! I think I lost 8 last month, so I’ll have to step it up.

  14. I couldn’t believe my eyes this am. Down 5!!!!!!!!! 190/169/160. This has been a horrible week with the job I took on, and I haven’t been eating as much. Hopefully I wont gain when it is over. I will have to change my goal. I thought I would be a lot thinner at 160. Now that I am only 9 lbs. away, I realize its not quite enough. I think I will change it to 150. That would make me just over half way there. I know that the next 19 lbs are going to come off a lot slower that the first 21, but I am ready for that.

  15. 220/168.6/168
    Down .4
Actually I feel I have probably arrived. And the ups and downs are ceasing to worry me too much. I am not going to stop phase 2 quite yet but feel free to relax a little. I don’t think I am in danger of going too far although some people keep telling me to stop now. I think it is just ‘cos they are generally concerned for me. Like my mum for instance. I like the new size me. So probably goal for this month is to work out if this is where I stop or not and to feel comfortable in it.

  19. 130. Just maintaining and trying not to enjoy the bad stuff too much! Too busy to think about anything else.

  20. Wow great losses this week!!

I was 168 this morning. This is up about 3-4 lbs from what I had been maintaining. I started working full time again, put the kids back in school, went to a conference, etc. Craziness all around. I’ve been exercising but eating not so healthy foods. Today I’m back on track. I’ve got my healthy meals all planned out and even have all the prep work done for the week. Next Monday should be looking much better. =O)

    Comment by Mandi — October 1, 2007 @ 5:07 pm |Edit This

  21. Hi everyone! No weigh in for me…I was out of town (went to Sea World…yeah!)…so I didn’t get back until late Monday. I could have weighed in today, but I don’t think it would have been very good. I took my healthy snacks and for the most part I did good BUT on 2 nights, after all the walking we did and since I ate healthy during the day, I splurged. :) So, I’ve decided that I’m back on Phase 1 this week and next Monday when I weigh in, I’ll decide whether to do Phase 1 another week or get back on Phase 2.
