Pass the potatoes and skip the pie

To the weigh in post we go

We cheer as we weigh

And wait for the day

That the final pound lets go-o!

Working together to change our weighs

With good food and exercise

We cheer on each gal

And our favorite fowl

As we slowly change our size!

I think my Christmas fitness gift to myself is the fact that I’ve started losing again after being pretty much stuck for so long, and that I may well be becomming addicted to exercise!

  2. 216/179/165 stg - up 2, but I was at a wash yesterday so I’m holding out for better. :)

I ate a few things this week that were not on plan, but was amazed how easy it was to eat small portions and not go hog wild! Get some water and some exercise in me and it’ll be all good.

  3. 168/148/130..Down 2.. total so far..20 lbs..YAY!!

    Comment by ChristyF — November 26, 2007 @ 7:55 am |Edit This

  4. 220/166.2/168 down 2, but the scales are a bit variable at the moment. I can get several different answers straight after each other fortunatley all around the same place ie between 165 and 169.
Anyway I conclude I am holding steady which is good.
I am at home with a cold today and feeling very lacking in energy. Well done Debs for all the exercising. Good for you Missy for your positive attitude.

  5. I forgot the Christmas fitness gift. Um maybe should be investing in gym membership. i just get no exercise at the moment. Debs and Bekki are putting me to shame.

  6. 210/149/140

Down 1.4 or so (I am at my grandmother’s in FL and her scale doesn’t do decimals). Pretty good for as much as I ate, but then I didn’t eat anything I wasn’t supposed to.

I won’t be able to weigh in next week - I’ll be at Disney World.

    Up 2!

Hmmm…I think my Christmas fitness gift is my husband as a babysitter!

  8. 200/166.8/160

Down 0.8, I wish it were more, but down is down.

In a sense, I think my current fitness level is already a gift to myself. I’m fitter and slimmer than I have ever been. EVER! I want to keep it all going in the new year, keep going to the gym, keep eating well. I’ve got a good medium term goal of a weekend away in the Lake district in May, when I want to be able to climb lots of mountains/hills and a) not be at the back of the group all the time and b) not be dead (well, very achey) for a week afterwards.

  9. 190/160/150

Stayed the same. I need to start exercising so that will be my gift to myself. I am losing soooooo much slower as I get closer to goal, so I need to start working out!!!

Yes! down 2 over Thanksgiving. I’m really going to focus on seeing 180 next Monday.

My gift for Christmas? Just after two weeks the way that I feel seems to good to be true! Good health - that’s what I’m going for (and to weigh less than my hubby!!)

    Down 2.4

Ummmm… Debs is a good influence on me, apparently! But I think I’ll go eat some protein now.

  13. And I swear she is eating loads! But this week I’ll be watching her like a hawk to make sure she’s eating enough!

  14. 232/222/149.9

My scale is OBVIOUSLY broken because it’s showing a 1.2 lb increase, even though the past two mornings I was weighing in around 219. Stupid scale! But my theory is over the holidays I was getting 8-10 hrs of sleep, giving my body more time to lighten it’s load, whereas last night I only got 4 hrs of sleep. Oh well.

My fitness gift to myself? Well, I bought myself an ipod shuffle which will be a lot less bulky to work out w/ than my reg ipod. And I need to convince my grandma to give me the treadmill that’s collecting dust in her garage. Oh, and go back to the gym. That will be good, too. I’ll be in 2 weddings next year. One is for my friend Greta who’s marrying John, my “trainer,” so it might be good to go back and see him and see what he can do w/ me by the time the wedding comes along in May.

Fitness gift? I need a scarf (hint, hint! you know who you are!) to help me out when I go running in the cold.

    Great going, all you losers!
Boo–I doubt the scale is broken. As females, our weights fluctuate for a number of reasons. Seriously. I know it can be frustrating, but the good news is it can go both ways–down as well as up.

  16. Oh and Blest–LOVE the tune! Especially the “favorite fowl” line!

    Up 1.2

Well, I hate that I have a gain BUT I’ll take 1.2 considering how I ate last week and no exercise. So, I’ve got some work to do to get where I was before my vacation.

Fitness gift? Hmmm…well, I have 3 gym memberships already…ha ha ha! And yes, I use them…well, 2 out of the 3. And I have an mp3 player (dell dj) but I sure would like an ipod (but can’t justify it since i already have an mp3). I would also like bicycling shoes since I started a spin cycle class BUT I don’t need those either. So, I think I’ll just continue using my gym memberships and be happy.

  18. 130.
A friend of mine is contemplating getting a group of women together to do karate. I mentioned it to my husband and he sounded interested - even though I’ve mentioned it before and he wasn’t. So, if the ladies don’t do it, maybe my husband and I will. I think it would be a great!

(down 2 from last week! I can’t believe it!) Can anyone explain why it is that the number can fluxuate within an hour or less of waking up (and not eating)? I’m excited about this week because my tap class is back on…that could be my gift to me this Christmas. :)
    Happy Monday!

  20. Brandi, I was just being facetious, as usual. And I assume that scarf hint is for me, since I’m the accessory queen of the fam.

Speaking of scarves, I mean to point out earlier to our English friends that the scarf I’m wearing in the pic w/ Brandi is a summer scarf from Accessorize. I love that place!

And Christina, I hear ya about not feeling justified in buying a 2nd mp3 player. I got my ipod shuffle from the online Apple store and it’s refurbished, so it was $30 cheaper. That made me feel a bit better about it. Or you can always ask for one for Christmas. Here’s the link if you’re interested: http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore.woa/wa/RSLID?mco=44BD9AA2&nclm=Certified
Sorry, don’t know how to make it a pretty little link.

    Comment by DebbieBoo — November 26, 2007 @ 11:30 am |Edit This

  21. Debbie, thanks for the info on the refurbished, I’m going to check those out. So you’ve had good look with refurbished?

    Comment by Cristina — November 26, 2007 @ 11:56 am |Edit This

  22. Yeah, my computer is a refurbished Macbook and one year later it still works great! Bird is always coveting it.
Plus, everything comes w/ a one year warranty and their customer service is really great. I’ve only had one prob w/ my ipod last year and I took it into the store and they fixed it for me.

  23. 240.6, on my weigh down from 242 last week.

My gift to myself will be consistent exercise, even during the travelling to family part.

Elizabeth you are awesome. Nice job this week! I can’t wait to hear your weigh in after your weekend away this week!! Hehe. You will do great!!!

  25. Do any of you South Beachers have new tips on snacks that don’t need preparation or refrigeration? I’m going to a conference and am worried that I may need a nibble between meals…perhaps fruit? I’m in phase 2, thank heavens!

    btw, thanks Nikki!

    Comment by elizabeth — November 26, 2007 @ 2:35 pm |Edit This

  26. I always carry nuts they are so portable. Fruit is ok but don’t overdo it. Veg sticks don’t take long to prepare with houmus, I pack it in an insulated lunch box with an icepack but don’t know if that is possible for you if you are away from home. And baby bel lights are easy to carry but again probably not good too long away from the fridge.

    Comment by Elly — November 26, 2007 @ 2:53 pm |Edit This

  27. Elizabeth, for snacks I’ll usually do a South Beach Diet snack bar or I’ll take some turkey slices with a Babybel Light Cheese or nuts like Elly suggested.

    Comment by Cristina — November 26, 2007 @ 2:58 pm |Edit This

  28. SB bars and nuts are something I do too. Take a small ice chest and get ice in the Hotel you are staying in. Then you can take cheese, veggies and anything else.

  29. Ditto nuts. Dried apricots, but not too many. (3 or so)

  33. Hi everyone,
Blest who goes to the same church I do turned me on to this website. Speaking of turning, she made my head turn when I saw her and saw how much of change she had made thanks to South Beach and the Lord. I have tried off and on but most guys don’t really care about losing weight so I was basically on my own. I played sports in High School and for the last year I have started to go back to the gym and work out everyday. I have gone down a waist size however, I want to look like I did back in college. I told my doctor I just retain water but he said, ” So does the Hoover Dam” Sometimes, I just tell people, I am a recovering anorexic. Ok Ok, just kidding, I spend 20 years in broadcasting the last 4 anchoring the ten o’clock news. By the way, tv adds 20 pounds to you. Since 1990 I have been teaching Journalism at the University of Texas at El Paso and also reporting for NPR. I also host four talk shows and teach College writing and Public Speaking part time at the University of Phoenix,
Well enough of that, Lord willing with Blest’s help and encouragement along with you all and of course the Lord I will be able to shed about 30 pounds.
You all have a great evening. I am bushed after grading what seemed like stacks and stacks of essays.
    Louie
