Happy Birthday to Me!

Okay, I’m shameless, but it’s still my birthday for about 10 more minutes - we’ll see if I manage to finish this in time. I decided to join in as my birthday present to myself.

I’m Tracy, just turned 41, Christian for 21 1/2 years, wife for 18 years, mom for almost 13 years - 3 kids now, ages almost 13, just turned 10, and 2 years 5 months. I can’t blame a single pound on my body on the kids. I’ve always managed to lose the pregnancy weight within the first 3 months… though I then tend to put more on, but it’s not their fault!

Nope, I can’t blame anyone else for this. I was thin as a teen, then slowly gained weight during college and beyond. I’ve gone up and down through the years, but the trend is ever upwards. I ate the food that put on the weight. Sure, I have a couple of medical conditions that don’t make it any easier (hypothyroidism and PCOS), but I can’t blame them. I’m 5′2″ tall and I want to lose half of my current weight. Give me a while and I’ll be ready to say exactly how much that is. But you get the picture that it’s quite a bit.

What do I want? More than anything, I want to look in the mirror on my next birthday and know that I gave it my best, that I tried hard. Whether I lose 1 lbs or 100 lbs, I will be happy if I know that I did my best. And I want to have fun in the process too!

If possible, I want to be able to hike for miles, keep playing hard with my kids, make them proud. I want my husband’s eyes to follow me as I walk (can I say that here?). I want to go to a store and be able to try anything on that I think would look cute on me. I want to be healthy and feel as young as I am. Because even at 41, I have a lot more living to do, I pray!

I look forward to meeting you all more. I also post at my blog http://www.terelina.typepad.com. Hope I did this right - may this be the best birthday present I’ve ever given myself!

Hi, my name is Leigh Ann

Hi. My name is Leigh Ann, and I am an overachiever, I mean, overeater (eating overachiever).
(Hi, Leigh Ann.)
I need to lose about 40 lbs. I weighed 138 at my wedding 6 years ago but that was from starvation. Not to fit into a wedding dress, but because I had no desire to eat from depression (I think I need another group for that one.).
I eat when I am depressed. I eat when I am upset. I eat when I am bored. I eat because “I deserve it”. I eat when I am stressed. I eat to celebrate. I eat to reward myself for making it through the day. I eat to medicate. Food is my drug of choice (or drink, as in high fructose corn syrup, carbonated, caffinated beverages).

My goals:
1) I want to glorify God and enjoy Him by the food and drink choices that I make daily.
(I believe it glorifies Him to enjoy the good tastes that He has made-in moderation.)
2) I want to be more attractive to my husband.
3) I want to have the energy to chase after the kids and my husband. He’s worth chasin’. ;-)
4) I want to have a wardrobe that I feel comfortable in without the tugging and pulling
and without wearing a tent.
5) I don’t want to be addicted to food.
6) I want to be fit and healthy.
7) I want to be a good example to my children, especially my daughter.

My diet:
I want to do a WW type thing.

My exercise:
Pilates

My intro

Hey gals! It was fun reading your intros and seeing who I already know and welcoming the opportuinity to meet others.

I am Maria. I have slowly gained weight since high school. I now weigh more than I ever have before and I don’t like it. I have never really dieted, my best weight loss came with getting pregnant ( don’t hate me, my metabolism changes when pregnant and I loose instead of gain at least for the first part of the pregnancy ) Well, I don’t plan on getting pregnant again, for awhile at least.

My husband found some success with protien power and I have just recently found The Carbohydrate Addict’s Diet that I want to explore. But my main goals are:

  • To stop havng to buy larger clothes
  • Have the clothes I have fit better
  • Work on buying smaller clothes - when I have the opportunity (read money) to do so
  • Make better choices
  • Quit ‘grazing’ through out the day.
  • Control my Reflux through diet.

Swinging Wide

Oh boy, introductions. *cough, cough* I’m not good at these things. My name is Anita and you can find me out on the web in at least a couple of places… Average Girl and Rhubarb Patch.

I don’t have a lot to loose, maybe 20 pounds. But they say it’s always those last 20 that kill ya! Now that my 40’s have hit me, I’m getting scared about what I’ll look like when I’m 50! If I do the math, I’ve gained an average of 1 pound a year since I graduated from college. Unfortunately, not that slowly. The first 10 were in my 30’s when I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism. And the last 10 were a couple of years ago when I injured my knee. Now that my knee has recovered, I really want to get back into shape! Unfortunately, I LOVE to cook and LOVE to eat. But I’m learning to let go of the things that I seem to hold onto so tightly, food being one of them.

My goals are:
– not buy anymore bigger sizes and be able to comfortably wear the clothes I have. (maybe even buy smaller sizes)
– become more athletic rather than sit behind a computer and watch my “trailer swing wide” (as my best friend would say). I might like to get into running, maybe even do a race or two.
– eat healthier and less impulsively.

Oh yeah, with the prodding of a friend or two, I just joined a health club yesterday. My arms hurt today. *pout*counseling american creditcard alaska credit airtax 2007 credit hybrid100 bad loan home credit1 in scores 3 creditfirst federal union american creditagenzia accreditataacsend union credit Map

Introducing myself

Hi! I’m Laura (lady laura). I’m a single mom to a wonderful 15 year old son who I homeschool. I love the Lord, crafts, and food, among other things. I would tell you my weight if I knew what it was but I honestly don’t. I haven’t been on a scale in years.
I generally base my overall health and fitness by how much energy I have and how well my clothes fit (or don’t). Based on those things, I’m not doing so well lately. Lately being the last year or so =)
While I am not really “fluffy”, I have been before (plus sizes) and I don’t want to be there again. I reckon I stand to lose about 15 pounds, give or take.
Now is the time to nip this slow slide in the bud and I am really excited about this whole thing!

My daydreams:
~to fit into the cute clothes I already own that are hiding in the back of the closet
~to feel stronger and more energized
~to have self-control over what I eat and when, using wisdom as my guide instead of my mood

Oh, and I gots me a blog. Oh, and I don’t know if I will be following any specific diet plan, but I will look into what the rest of you are doing and see.

This is going to be so great. Thanks to Blest and Leann for the great idea and work to put it all in motion!

(Did I forget anything?)

  1. Oh c’mon Laura, we have to add “Catch the eye of that perfect Godly man” to the list… But then, if he won’t have his eye caught without your losing a few pounds - he’s not perfect anyway! (ha!)

Hey y'all

…it’s a southern thing, my name is Angie and I have been riding the Weight Watchers train since June 26th this year. My first weigh-in was (yes, I am going to post my weight, if I am gonna be accountable then I.am.gonna.be.acountable!) 219.6 (gasp). I am 5′11″ and I really want to get down to at least 160, that might be pushing it, but we’ll see. So far, since my first weigh-in, I have lost 9.2 pounds. So now I weigh 210.4. I do attend the WW meetings on Monday evenings and love.them! So that is when I will be posting my weight loss! (Positive thinking guys!) They are very inspiring and motivating. Plus, I get lots and lots of good food find tips and yummy recipes.

  • I want to feel better about myself (if momma ain’t happy then nobody is).
  • I want more energy so I can hang out and play with my kids (15, 10, 8, & 6) while they are still young and want to play with me.
  • I want to be healthy.
  • I want to make better choices for myself and my kids, they learn from us ya know!
  • I want to let go of my dependancy for food and depend more on God to fill me up.

So, there you have it, I have laid it all out there for ya. I am very excited about this. I look forward to learning different things about myself and gleaning knowledge from the rest of ya! Oh yeah, I blog over at Carolina Rags, come see me there too!

Go team!

Ready for a change

Hi! I’m Lorri and have struggled with weight off and on all my life. Now that I’m a mom (DD is 14 months old), it’s really important to me that I don’t pass on my bad eating habits to her. Which means, of course, that I must change them myself! Easier said than done. :-) Losing 15 pounds will put me back to my pre-pregnancy weight, losing 60 will put me at a healthy weight.

Right now I’m tracking food with SparkPeople, and struggling with working exercise in to my days. I’ve considered joining Weight Watchers, but not sure we can swing it on just one income. So, any accountability that I can find is good. I’m trying to incorporate prayer more into my health efforts as well. Emotional eating is one of my big downfalls, and I’m hoping to find Godly ways to deal with those times.

Goals:
- To get to a healthy weight (hopefully before our next pregnancy)
- Make healthy eating and exercise a habit
- Get to the point where I don’t feel “entitled” to eat poorly or be lazy

Glad to join you all on this journey!

Howdy y'all

My first post here at One Weigh … I guess it’s sink or swim time! I’m Stephanie, mama to two little girls (2&3/4 and 6 months) and wife to my favorite person in the whole world here in Tennessee. But why am I here? I need accountability in my weight loss journey. I’m overweight … the product of just loving food, being married to man with fantastic metabolism and trying to keep up with him, and having two hugemongo babies that have stretched me to no end! I’ve struggled with this most of my adult life - I managed to lose about 60 lbs. before my wedding and keep it off until my first pregnancy … that’s where I want to be again!

Because I’m nursing, I’m trying to start by just making sensible choices while I figure out what is the best way for me to diet this time around. Also, Lord willing, we want more children, so this isn’t just about dieting for me, it’s about learning to make good food choices that will stick with me for life. I’ve done Weight Watchers in the past (love it!) but am not sure I’m up to counting points this time around. :-)

Some goals that I am looking towards:

  • Fitting into more of the clothes that are in my closet
  • Teaching my girls good eating habits and having nutritious options for them instead of chips or cookies because it’s easier
  • Knocking my husband’s socks off …. ’nuff said
  • Getting into a routine for walking
  • Turning to God and His Word instead of foodReady … set … go!!!

Edited for Leann: My blog is here. At this point, I’m leaning towards Weight Watchers because I know the plan cold, but I may do more of their core plan which is unlimited fruits and veggies and other core foods. That’s what I’m thinking anyway!

    Must get out

this is what my bod is screaming at me for forcing it into a pair of the hubby’s shorts that are much to snug. Why did I do this? Well, the reason is two-fold….

…because I had no other clean shorts this morning (yes I do laundry weekly but things happen when you have little ones).

And the other reason, to let reality set in that I’m not even close to where I’m going….yes, closer than I was but still so far away. There’s no way I can go out in public with Erik’s ultra-tight soccer shorts (not tight on him of course…sigh) and my “cling to me” MOPS t-shirt on; but, I may just wear them around here for the rest of the week to make myself uncomfortable with where I’m at.
