I'm in (Tami)

Good Morning everyone! I’m Tami and I’m now an “official” part of the team! I really am just too excited. I talk to my husband about OWOA quite often. I have been following the group since about 2 weeks. Yes…you guys have “groupies”! When I started following along my weight was at 229. I am now at 212 with much more to go. I have been following Atkins however tomorrow I will officially switch to South Beach. I miss whole grains and fruits. Well, it’s time to hit the treadmill (the Autumn season with all it’s rain has come in hard).

  1. This seems like a good time to stop being a lurker and actually say hello. You ladies are inspiring me to do something about my weight. I don’t actually know for certain what my weight is at the moment (I don’t own any scales, or rather I have some that don’t work!) but I know that being a size 26 is not good, and that my health is definitely being affected. There, I’ve said it. Now I’d better start doing something about it. Would it be ok once I’ve got some scales if I started joining the weigh-ins? Cos it would be great to have some people to be accountable to. Oh, a little bit about me. I live in London, Uk and I’m 24. I don’t have a fulltime job at the moment, but I’m doing some childcare for people at my church.

  9. Welcome to both Tami and Debs! I, too, am a lurker like Debs, but I’ve enjoyed starting to post at least for the weigh-ins (except this past week… oops. Sorry, Blest.) Anyway, I was just reading the bios (since there’s new people), and I noticed how many of you like to walk and are using walking as a form of exercise. In case anyone needs some extra motivation in the form of something to work towards, I wanted to mention the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer — it’s a 2-day walk (a full marathon — 13.1 miles each day!), and it is by far the best thing that I have done this year. (No, I don’t work for Avon; I have no affiliation with them, either.) Each participant raises money; the walk I participated in this past year raised over $8 million that goes part towards research and part towards providing care for women who can’t afford regular mammograms. Anyway, just in case any of you need some extra motivation in terms of exercising towards a goal, I wanted to mention it. The walkers (all amazing people) I met this past year were of all shapes and sizes, too. You can find more info about it at www.avonwalk.org. (Blest, sorry if this is too much of an endorsement — I just thought it might be helpful if someone was interested). More than anything, if people were interested in doing it, you could all meet up in one city and spend a weekend of fun together :)

  10. Tami and Blest thanks for your emails. I’ll definitely start commenting and joining in the weigh ins (once I get some new scales). I just wanted to say that even as a lurker reading your posts it’s been great to see the amazing support you give each other. I’m just so excited about being a part of that. Oh, also I’ve just started a second blog (www.bigtobeautiful.blogspot.com) so that I actually have to write stuff down about how things are going.
