Losing and Giving (blest)

Tami’s post about a backpack full of the lost weight gave me an idea! You see, after she posted that (scroll down if you missed it) I went to the pantry with my scale and loaded a sack full of twenty pounds of canned goods. Man! That’s heavy!! And it was motivating to know that I have gotten that much weight of my frame. (plus I can’t help but daydream about how light I’ll feel when I’ve ditched three more bags full!)

Then I thought… Hmmm. That bag of cans looks like it’s going to a food bank… And why not??

So here’s my idea! Thanksgiving is two months away. Come November, I am going to donate the weight I have lost in canned goods to a food bank or food basket program. Wanna join me? You can either do total weight lost since the beginning, or weight from now til the Donate Day. I’m not sure what the deadline will be since it will have to be a little before Thanksgiving. Maybe the Weigh-In Monday before? What do you think?

  3. I think this is a great idea. Do you mean the Monday before the week of Thanksgiving? I think that would be best that way a person had time to run to the store and get canned goods and take them wherever they decide. I am in…provided we are not in the middle of a move. We are trying to purchase a house (kind of unexpectedly) and may be a little strapped for finances at that time…until we get this house rented at least.

  4. Oh I like this. And you know what - my math skills are a little whack - I was looking at how much I’m down from my high and it’s almost 60 not 50…blech! Wonder how many cans that is? I better start buying them now and space it out lol.

    Fun stuff!
