What's going on (blest)

So… It’s awfully quiet around here today. What are you ladies up too? My husband and oldest are off at an air show. When they get back we’re going to a church party… I think I’ll pack in some food just in case. You just never know how many healthy choices there will be.

What are you doing? Anything fun? Any food challenges? C’mon, talk to me!

  1. We’re taking a short break from cleaning out basement - fun, fun! But it has needed to be done for a long time and I’m glad to finally get to it.

  2. I was wondering where everybody was too. I’m back :-) , and… me and my mum are offically going to start south beach (once we’ve done a bit of menu planning and shopping - so probably on monday). Hurrah :-)

  3. We are watching the Ohio State game right now. Earlier I made a big pot of chili for the game. My husband had to work OT today so it was just me and boys earlier today. I just got done typing up an insert for a friend’s baby shower and then I sent an email to my co-workers on how to handle our rape cases at work. (I talked with a friend who went through the Red Cross training so she gave me some great info). I am working with a 15 year old girl who is pregnant from a rape and she has been on my mind alot. Other than that I have just been having a good time playing with the kids.

  4. I’ve been at work all day today. But I have to say that I ate only 1 no-bake cookie and didn’t touch the chocolate chip ones for the rest of the day! And they smelled good too! I think eating a healthy breakfast helps.

Hope everyone is off doing something fun. :-)

  5. I’m getting ready to start working my way through John Piper’s book “A Hunger for God” (http://www.amazon.com/Hunger-God-Desiring-Through-Fasting/dp/0891079661/sr=8-1/qid=1160347408/ref=sr_1_1/002-3250179-5634439?ie=UTF8&s=books) . I bought it at our church’s bookstore this morning… and am excited about it. I definitely have food issues with emotional eating, etc… and am hoping that reading this book as well as possibly learning to practice fasting as a spiritual discipline will help me break these bonds. Anyone’s welcome to join me in reading this book :)

  6. Anne, I have that book and will get to it eventually, too!

    This weekend…
    * Took kids to tumbling and gymnastics
    * Took kids to their piano recital at the zoo. (they did great!!!)
    * Took time to see the zoo with the kids since we got a free pass because of the recital.
    * Made a trip to Sam’s for gasoline and some much needed veggies and stuff for the church that we were out of.
    * Got home, cooked dinner and then crashed from a full and busy day.
    * Got up this morning and got four kiddos ready and out the door for Sunday school and church.
    * Went to grandma’s for lunch and spent time visiting while Dan took JoNathan to a baseball game (JoNathan is playing in the fall league)
    * Got the kiddos packed into the car and got everyone home.
    * Dan just left with three out of four kiddos to take a little hike behind our house.
    * We still have dinner and maybe a movie before bedtime
    * We might catch a little baseball on television instead
    * I still have a chapter to read, a journal entry for class to make and the weekly Mommy Conferences with kids before school starts again tomorrow (we homeschool)

    Busy enough for ya??? ;)

  7. Come on people, wake up please ;-) I wanna weigh in. That’s the one problem with being in the UK and commenting on a US blog - I wake up approx 8 hours before you do. Oh well! A good morning to you all when you do wake up :-)

  8. I started fighting a kidney stone Friday afternoon (happy, happy, joy, joy…NOT). Ended up on the phone a lot on Friday (my parent’s anniversary). Friday night we had movie night at the house, I wasn’t feeling great thanks to the pain in my side.

Saturday morning I was feeling better, assumed the stone moved back to my kidney as it wasn’t hurting. We went geocaching and we hiked, jogged, walked, sprinted about 2 miles. Started feeling bad again by the time we got home. Stone on the move again. Ended up crashing for just over 4 hours after we got back. Got up in time to eat dinner, talk with DH and then went back to bed.

Sunday morning, stone still a “thorn in my side”, we opted to have our own sunday school lesson at the park with the kids. It was absolutely lovely. We talked about creation, read from the Bible, sang praise songs…I think it’s one of the best Sunday services I’ve been to in a while. Afterwards the kids played on the playground while DH and I talked about the future. Things have been a bit tense what with not knowing where we’ll end up next. The kids ended up covered in dirt so we took them home, showered them and then went freezer cooking shopping. Two stores and $500+ later we were home, exhausted (sore)and ready to call it a night.

I haven’t passed the stone but it doesn’t seem to be bothering me this morning. Boy, why did I have to inherit this from my family? Why not my mom’s musical talent? My sisters got that, I got the stones lol. Of course, I did get some of the good stuff, just hard to recognize it when I’m in pain :)

Today?? Today is the start of my freezer cooking session and I have ALOT to do. I’m planning to complete more than I ever have in one session - the next few days will be exhausting.

  9. I have been very very busy. ds1’s birthday party on Friday night, helping ds1 and dh get ready to go camping on Sat/Sun, helping dh get ready to leave today on a business trip. And the house and the speech therapy, and church, and small group, etc. etc. so I have not been online for more than a few minutes at a time, including right now. Time for one more comment (weigh in!) and then I have to scoot again to get more down before bedtime comes!
