Prayers Please (Debs)

Hey everyone, I’ve not been online much (well, except some commenting), mostly because I’ve been so busy, but also because I’ve had some migraines. I had one last Saturday which I reckon was due to a sugar incident. On Monday I felt pretty bad, but managed to survive the day at work. And then I had one today, and had to come home, and that was after eating only breakfast, which that was the same as I always have.

I got stress migraines a few years back - during my second year at university. Back then I pretty much spent a whole term being sick and lying down on my bed. I’m scared that the migraines are gonna start like that again, and I’m sure the more worried and scared I get about that, the more I’m making myself liable to have them. So please could I have some prayers that my body will sort itself out, and I’ll be able to stop eating anything that might be a trigger, but also that God will help to take away the fear of them too. Thanks :-)

  2. Oh, Debs. I have only had one migraine in my life, but it was just awful! I cannot imagine having them chronically. Definitely praying for you.

  3. Debs, I will pray for you.

One thing that came to mind: have you tried an elimination diet to see if it is a food or additive that might be triggering them? My son had had remarkable success with some other issues (emotional ups/downs) through the Feingold diet. You eliminate a bunch of stuff for 4 weeks then add things in one ata time to see if it causes a problem.

I have heard a lot of parents comment that along with the success with behavioral issues, chronic headaches have disapeared.

Also, I know somewhere I have seen a list of migrane triggers. I remember peanuts and chocolate were on the list but don’t know what else…MSG, I think was on there too. If you are interested, I am sure it would be easy to find on line.

    HTH!

  4. I came back to see what was happening and found this post. One thing I know about is headaches… I’ve had them my entire life. In fact, I was put into the hospital for taking too much over the counter medicine for my headaches and it affected my kidney’s. Who knew? It’s not on the label! But anyway, with that incident I change my diet. I all ready eat healthy, but I change the amount of times I eat a day and took out anything that wasn’t real. What is real? Well, real is anything that your great-grandmother had access to. I’ve taken out all man made foods and/or food that has chemicals in it. ~ I have to say, I still get headaches but to a much, much lesser extent. In fact changing my food has made me get more energy. I also learned an exercise that helps headaches… they are more for tension than for migraine but most of the time migraines has some tension in there. Take an exerband tie the two ends in a knot and place the knot behind a closed door about at the door knob. Sit on the floor with your feet against it, put the band around your head comfortably and push back…. this stretches your neck and feels great!
