Stepping Forward

It is the last Weigh-In for March. Wow! The year is cruising by! So March yourself onto that scale and let us know how you’re doing! As you step up, just remember that the number you see is only a mile marker…a little signpost to let you know where you are. It is not your destination or your valuation! And no matter what news you get from your scale this morning, you might find this quote helpful…I know I do!

Success is not final,

Failure is not fatal:

it is the courage to continue that counts.

~ Winston Churchill

Down three pounds! Oh yeah! (Doing a happy dance)

Must be all those fruits and veggies I ate as I completed this week’s challenge.

Guess what I did? I put on my old size 14 jeans! Granted, I couldn’t sit down in them, but that will come.

  2. I have no change for the week. And, I did eat all my fruits and veggies. Let’s have a cheer for spring produce!!

  3. 200/1732./160

Down 0.4lb. Small change, but in the right direction.
I ate my fruit and veggies too.

Incidentally, lookng at my BMI and height and weight charts, I’m now teetering on the edge of the ‘healthy weight’ band, which is exiting. When I started, I was at the very top edge of the ‘overweight’ band.

  4. D’oh! I mean ‘exciting’ not ‘exiting’.

No change this week. GRRRR!!! I did complete my challenge.

  6. 147/135/130 down 1 pound. 5 more go. That feels weird.

  7. Oh dear, typos galore. I weigh 173.2lb. 1732 would be very worrying.

  8. 143/135/120ish

Slow and steady wins the race….

Down 1.5 pounds this week. Not much for still being in phase 1 but I am happy with it. I am especially happy that last summer’s “snug” shorts are so loose that they won’t fit much longer! :-)

Yes, I met the challenge….sooooo easy! Never realized how easy it was to eat 5 servings a day. And mine were ALL veggies!

  9. 144.4/139.2/124

Up one :-( maybe because I didn’t complete the challenge, didn’t exercise (except the 8k yesterday) and fell back into some old eating habits.

This week is a new week, thank goodness!

Completed last week’s challenge - love those fruits and veggies

Yea, down 3 pounds! I think I ate at least 5 servings of veggies everyday by noon - challenge completed!

  12. 239.8/228.6/200
    Down 2.4lbs

Yipee! I’m so excited…I’m in the 220’s!!! I just pray that I have the strength to keep this up and keep working hard.

I was so worried that I’d gain or stay the same. My husband’s family was in town last week, 11 of them! I stayed on track all week, except one night…I met them for dinner at The Cheesecake Factory and could not say no to the chocolate cake. Oh, I paid the next day…my stomach was not happy!

I completed the challenge as well. I got 5 servings of fruits/veggies in 6 out of 7 days. I never realized how easy that would be.

  13. 187.2/183.4/168

Down 3.8!!! I finally lost some. I did OK on the challenge. Looking back at my records I didn’t get all of them every day.

I can’t wait to get in to my size 14 pants!!

  14. 221/195/160 (for now)

I’m up two this week. bummer. I did great on exercise, but with all the sick kiddos, the eating was tough. I did get all the fruits and veggies in though. Thanks for the great challenge!!

    Comment by Karen — March 26, 2007 @ 8:20 am |Edit This

  15. 210/170.8/135 - I am down 1.2 this week and I easily got in my 5 servings of fruits and veggies. I think it would be hard for me not to get them (seeing as how I grew up with parents who were produce farmers…)

In other news - I am a bit sad to report that there is no baby in my future. =O

I also celebrated my 29th birthday on Saturday! This is my last year in the 20’s — so I’d better make it a good year!

Yep, UP 4 and back to the starting point. :O(

    Bummer.

But the man repairing my BRAND NEW ellitical trainer is coming tonight. ‘Bout time - I’ve had it for more than 2 months and haven’t gotten to use it yet….grrrr

    Hi everyone,

My name is Caroline and I have been a lurker for quite some time. Blest mentioned weighing in on Mondays, so I’m hoping to join you. My habit is to weigh myself everyday - I know that’s a no-no, but I just feel better seeing it everyday. I’ve been on the South Beach Diet for about six weeks, and it feels like it’s been going slow. But for reasons unknown, this week I lost 4 pounds, so of course I’m thrilled about that. I certainly don’t expect to lost that much every week, but wouldn’t it be nice?

So I’ll be seeing you all!

    Comment by Caroline — March 26, 2007 @ 9:50 am |Edit This

  18. This week was a bad week. Life got really busy and I didn’t manage to stick to my diet. In fact, I pretty much threw it out the window and waved goodbye.

    I’m up 4.6 this week to 265.6

Hopefully lesson learned - I wasn’t eating those things for a reason.

    Comment by Debs — March 26, 2007 @ 10:49 am |Edit This

  19. However, I did complete the challenge this week.

    Comment by Debs — March 26, 2007 @ 11:21 am |Edit This

  20. Sorry, comment overload, but just to clarify. In my first comment I meant that when on the diet I wasn’t eating particular things for a reason, and when I gave up on the diet and ate them (for example white bread) the consequenses were loud and clear.

    Comment by Debs — March 26, 2007 @ 11:28 am |Edit This

  21. I don’t understand how it is that the scale goes up so quickly when you eat something you’re not supposed to (heck, sometimes even if you just smell it or pass by it), yet it goes down soooooo slow when you try to be good. SO NOT FAIR!

    Comment by Cristina — March 26, 2007 @ 11:47 am |Edit This

  22. 212.8/147.4/135

No change. I can live with that! I’m finally back to exercising this week, so look out scale!!!

    Comment by blestwithsons — March 26, 2007 @ 12:02 pm |Edit This

  23. 215/194/160 Down 1.5 I didn’t really eat good, but I am taking my herbal thyroid supplement on a regular basis now, and I think it’s helping.

I started back on my diet today, and I feel like I’m starving. Now that I’m working and don’t have access to food during the day I think it may be easier to stick to it. I really need to lose weight FAST! I met a really nice/handsome guy at church and he weighs 180 pounds! YIKES! I can’t weigh more than a guy I like! Talk about incentive…

  24. 220/185.8/175
Down 1.4 which is slow but ok as its still down. :-)
Completed the fruit and veg challenge easily. I love fruit and veg.

Still not fitting in much exercise but I did swim, and do a 30 minute walk between my 2 jobs because the car was in the garage and I saw the bus disappearing so it wasn’t worth waiting for the next one. I think I took that as God knowing I needed the exercise.

And I finally did some housework this weekend which is also good exercise. Life has been so busy that the general house-cleaning hadn’t been done for weeks.
Please note we aren’t in much as all 3 of us at home work so it doesn’t get messed up like when you have kids around. However there does come a point when the dirt gets obvious and it had more than passed it so the place feels much better now.

Debs has been really busy this week too and she is very tired. We are looking forward to our 2 weeks off school which starts on Friday. Our spring forward time change was this last weekend and I find it very hard to cope with. Debs only realised when we went to bed on Saturday night and she nearly cried. I hope I am being encouraging tp her but I really appreciate all you ladies out there. Thanks for all your love, prayers and encouragement.

  27. 215/209.5/150

Down .5. Slow and steady may win the race, but it won’t win QOM! :-) I’m still frustrated by this slow loss, but maybe once my husband is deployed I’ll have more time to work out. I’ll have nothing else to do in the evenings!

    Comment by Christy — March 26, 2007 @ 3:20 pm |Edit This

  28. Good job to all of you hanging in there! Everyone is bemoaning 1 pound losses. Hey, 1 pound is 1 pound and it counts. Just ’cause Bird lost 9 pounds the first week… :-) Don’t be discouraged. You guys are doing great by just sticking with it!

    Okay, that’s all I have to say…

    Comment by Anita — March 26, 2007 @ 4:24 pm |Edit This

  29. Is it true that losing one pound of fat is the same (in size) as losing a pound of butter? If so, that is encouraging!

    Comment by Brandi — March 26, 2007 @ 4:39 pm |Edit This

  30. You know, I think it’s really important to look at averages. Take Bethany, for example. Yup. She’s “only down 1″ this week…But last week she was down more than THREE! That averages to a nice weight loss of 2 lbs a week. Which is a GOOD loss. And Elly, you’ve been steadily paring off more than a pound a week for the past three weeks! You’re reported a loss for four straight weeks! That’s something to be happy about! And did you know that you’ve lost 45% of your goal?! Woo Hoo!

Oh and Debs, I read something recently someone was making the point that when we binge, it’s typically on higher sodium foods. So you probably didn’t really gain 4 pounds - there’s probably some water there too. Take Courage! It’s a new day, Sweetie!

And Anne, I think only gaining one pound after such a tough week is REALLY AWESOME! I’m proud of you!

C’mon ladies!! One Weigh Or Another! If today isn’t your weigh, next week will be!!! We can do it!!

  32. 253.6. I think that’s up one. Not happy about it, but not surprised.

I did eat all my fruits and veggies. That one is actually easy for me. I have no problem getting enough of the healthy stuff - it’s the other stuff that is hard.

And I didn’t get to exercise at all for the past week - between my sickness, then ds13, then ds3, then dh… ah, excuses, excuses.

would someone please make the tree pollen go away at least?

  33. Man-oh-man it’s been a loooooong day. Ok, here I am, ready to report:

    231.5/219.5/160

I dropped 3 pounds this week. It’s kind of a bummer after losing 9 last week. I thought, “Heck, let’s go for 10!” Of course, that didn’t work out. ;-)

I’m still happy with my 3.

    Comment by Bird — March 26, 2007 @ 7:31 pm |Edit This

  34. Bird also met the 5 a day challenge but probably doesn’t even know…does that count? ;-)

    Comment by Brandi — March 26, 2007 @ 7:42 pm |Edit This

  35. Does that mean I ate a lot of veggies? Yikes! What are you feeding me, woman?!

    Comment by Bird — March 26, 2007 @ 8:01 pm |Edit This

  36. 194/183/155
Just down 1 this week. I’m with the it stinks to work hard and only be down 1 gang!! I don’t ever over eat and I never eat things I shouldn’t. As I said befor I know some of the problem is that I get going with the day and then don’t eat anything at all. Most of the time I only eat 2 times a day. Yesterday I had a tomatoe at 11:00am and didn’t eat again until 10:00pm. When I ate at 10:00 I had a small salad with about 3-4TLB of taco meat and a little salsa. NO chips with it. I don’t think I got all my veggies this week, even though thats about all I eat.

As Blest has pointed out I am thankful to be down that 1 and not up one!! I will work harder at making my health more important and eat more often. :)

    Comment by Katherine — March 27, 2007 @ 3:46 am |Edit This

  37. katherine, it almost sounds like you might not be eating enough? you might lose more if you eat more…

    Comment by Anne — March 27, 2007 @ 6:46 am |Edit This

  38. Oh, I forgot to say that I met the challenge this week!

Blest, thanks for the encouragement :)

    Comment by Christy — March 27, 2007 @ 10:42 am |Edit This

  39. 212/185/175 up 3 pounds but I was that last Friday. I am suprisingly pleased with this because of all the cardio and weights I did last week, the water weight I am holding just because I am woman and the 3 1/2 day hospital stay.
Ahh…it’s a new week. Bit concerned for Sissy though. She has decided not to drink this morning.

Oh yes, I did complete the challenge.
