The shillings wanted to come in after the pounds….so I let them!
We’ve passed the ides of March and summer will soon be upon us! Every pound we lose is one pound less of insulation! Woo Hoo! Don’t forget that this week’s QOM challenge is already up and should have us all seeing green! (and yellow, and red, and orange…)
Anita, I have you down as willing to donate a weigh-in prize. Is that okay for today?
256.6 / 196.4 / 130-140 ~ down 3.6
Hello again 190’s! Now, time to move on to the 180’s.

212/183/175…
stayed the same but figured as much. Changed the last numbers to a short term goal. Would like to be there by April 16. Need to push this weight loss up to 2# a week for a bit.

PS - my “baby” turns three today and I just realized I’m now down 60.2 lbs since her birth - that’s an average of 20lbs per year…um, I think it’s time to hit goal already lol.

144.4/138.2/124 ~ up 1.8
Ah, that time of the month. But I’m ok with the gain because I’m about 2 pounds lighter now than I was a month ago during that time of the month gain…. so, I’ll take it! That and I know part of it is because I splurged and had too much to eat last night…. the boyfriend and I broke up (mutual), which I know is the right thing to do but is just going to be so hard since after 2 years, our lives are very entertwined. I decided to allow myself one splurge (last night) instead of a week or two (or three!)’s worth of splurges. That being said… I’d appreciate any prayers for peace right now.

Down 6.5 pounds after my first week on South Beach! I can’t believe it since I’ve hardly been hungry. Bird’s is coming after he gets home from work…I think you all will be impressed

Comment by Mandi — March 19, 2007 @ 6:56 am |Edit This
147/136/130. I’m going to say no change because I don’t have a digital scale. But it’s hovering just over 135, so I think I may have lost a 1/2 pound. But I’m not counting until it’s a whole pound.
Yes, I can donate a gift. Lemme go see what I have that would be fun. Maybe a felted tote bag? A scarf? Hmmmm….

Down 1 lb this week!
Comment by Kellie — March 19, 2007 @ 7:04 am |Edit This
198/188/140 - no change this week, but I will take it! Despite my protests, I have started some exercise this week to defeat my seasonal depression, so my appetite has picked up some. I am a bit hormonal and I realized how little water I have been drinking when my ankles swelled a bit last night! Chug-chug.
All that said, I KNOW I lost some fat this week, but exchanged it for a little muscle and most likely too much water.
Blair, excellent week!
Tami, good luck on your goal. It’s in the bag, girl!
Anne, prayers for you will be on my heart today. Way to be proactive on those splurges (giggle)
I hope everyone has a terrific day! (See, the exercise is defeating the depression!)

Oh (((Anne))), praying for you girl…
Tami - that looks like a great short term goal.
Brandi - wow - how sweet is that!
Mandi - ah yes, ovulation. I tend to bloat during that. Anxious to hear what you find out.
Comment by Blair — March 19, 2007 @ 7:06 am |Edit This
Anita - I remember what it was like quessing at the weight when I had that kind of scale - I’m sure you’re down and hopefully you’ll see that full pound next week
Kellie - way to go!!
Missy - great job starting the exercise routine! I’m sure that scale will move down if you stay on track this week too. It just has to. Muscle is a good thing to gain.

Everyone is doing so well!
I am down 1 lb. this week:) And I am going to SPUNK myself and say that I wore a dress this weekend that was a bit too snug last time I wore it in the Fall. I had it ‘going on!’ Realizing that made it so easy to stop eating the green curry at the Thai restaurant and save the rest for lunch today. I didn’t want to be over-full and undo my progress.
And I wonder, does anyone know if spicy food ups metabolism?

It was a tough weekend because my husband’s family is visiting but I managed to stay on track. I hope that I’ll be able to stick to healthy eating during the week because they’ll still be here.

LadyLaura, I don’t think so. If it did I never woulda gotten fat in the first place! I’ll check though…

My Weight Watchers meetings and weigh-ins are on Thursday nights so my current weight may not be totally accurate. Although, I do NOT think I lost any over the weekend - we shall see. I guess I haven’t quite got the hang of this dieting thing since I didn’t lose any the first week. I guess it’s good that I didn’t gain any.

Down 4 this week. It’s a rough time right now with my oldest (17) just getting over the strep throat, now my youngest(2yrs) (of 7) has strep and influenza. He’s pretty clingy and it’s hard to get much done. I’d appreciate any prayers that the rest of us stay healthy!

Ok, I will post mine in a minute, but right now I’ve got my ’sister of Bekki’ hat on. She has a day off work today so may not get to a computer and asked me to weigh in for her.
She is at 173.6 which is down 2.6

Ok, so now this is my weigh-in.
I am down .4 to 261
That’s 294/261/260 (short term goal)
I so wanted to reach my short term goal this week, but it’s been quite a confusing time for my body - I’ve had 3 migraines which included throwing up, so it probably doesn’t know if it’s coming or going! Next week hopefully…

Down….um, 3 I think. I’ll have to go look. I can’t remember what I weighed last week! Hopefully, better this week since I’ll be back to exercising. My knee is still a bit wonky, but I can walk on it pretty well. So, walking it will be. And I feel much better today…

So with my first week on Southbeach I lost 9lbs. I was hoping for 10. I even worked out twice yesterday trying to get shed an extra pound. Alas, it didn’t work. Oh well. The good thing is my jeans are already fitting looser and I lost a notch on my belt.
Comment by Bird — March 19, 2007 @ 3:49 pm |Edit This
Wowie! I tell you what. That first week on South Beach is amazing!
Weigh to go Bird. Weigh to go to all you others who lost this week!

To Anyone: Is it bad to, in general, lose a lot of weight in a week? Like, say, 4 or 5 pounds? I know when you start a diet you generally lose a lot at first. But I’ve also heard that people should lose like 2 pounds a week at most. Is there any validity to that?
Comment by Bird — March 19, 2007 @ 4:42 pm |Edit This
It’s VERY normal. I don’t quite know why, though I know some of it is fluid. But I know it’s normal, especially on SB Phase One and especially for a man. (darn ya! ) Next week should still be good - but not as spectacular. Then once you move onto Phase 2, which I recommend you go ahead and do on schedule, you should settle to a steady 1-2 pounds a week.
Just enjoy it!!
Comment by blestwithsons — March 19, 2007 @ 4:47 pm |Edit This
Well I guess my question is this: is it unhealthy to lose more than 2 pounds a week in Phase 2? Say I workout like a dog and try to lose like 4 or 5 a week. Is that bad?
Comment by Bird — March 19, 2007 @ 4:49 pm |Edit This
Well….she said as she sits with ice packs on her knees… If you overdo it, you could get sick or injured, which could knock you off track. I just sent you some articles on male weight loss - so yes, you may be able to lose more than two a week without problems. But you need to be patient with the process and yourself. The weight didn’t go on overnight, it’s not gonna come off overnight. And you need to be steadily
brainwashing yourselfbuilding healthy habits into your life and your self so that you don’t put it right back on when you “stop”.Comment by blestwithsons — March 19, 2007 @ 4:55 pm |Edit This
Thanks, Blest.

Lunch /? cal
1 lettuce leaf
roasted chicken(about 1/4c.)
