Digital Workouts

This post is from Cristina….if she keeps going like this, I’m agonna have to make her official!

Has anyone ever tried this?

I recently ran across an article that talked about companies that now sell audio workouts that can be downloaded to digital players (mp3’s).

The article mentioned that you can download workout music, workouts that talk you through basic stretching and even a marathon bike ride.

I’m tempted to try this out but before I do…I’d be interested in hearing if anyone has ever tried this and how you liked it.

Here’s a couple of sites that the article listed:
itrain (cycling, sculpting, boxing-this website has it all; $3.99-$7.99)
cardiocoach (has hour-long cardio workouts that can be used on any stationary machine; $14.95)
beitfit (offers a gym-based “transformation” workout; $4.95-$14.95)
gymp3 (offers celebrity trainers like Kathy Kaehler and Greg Issacs; $11.99)
iamplify (offers hardcore cardio routines but also has gentler yoga and pilates; $4.95-$9.95)
podfitness (for a flat monthly fee, you get up to 2 downloads per day, each customized to your goals; $19.95)

  1. I’d also recommend looking at iTunes. (Granted, if you download things and want to put them on an mp3 player, it has to be an iPod.) But they also have a lot of FREE podcasts (both video and spoken) that you can listen to right from your computer, no need for an iPod ;-)

  2. I did respond to your comment…. but in the event technology doesn’t deliver it, I wanted to leave the same message here.

Hi, I’d love to help you with your venture! And, I’m so happy you found my website… I’m a little ahead of the actual contest… but wanted to be ready. I am one of the podfitness trainers and yes we are having a national weight loss contest. It’s going to be announced sometime tomorrow or the next day and there will be over $300,000 in prizes awarded to the people with the best success stories! And, if you sign up through me at http://www.podfitness.com/jimryno (when the contest starts) you get even more goodies. Please email me directly at tryno@mac.com and I’ll be able to better explain the details. And, if you give me an idea of the personalities of each person involved I’ll help to recommend you the appropriate trainer. Of course, I’d love you to choose me, but with that said there are a lot of great trainers involved in the challenge.

Please contact me at your earliest convenience… there will be lost of extras for those first involved! Regards, Jim Ryno

For more information, my wife also has a fitness blog and she will also be announcing the contest as soon as it starts… she will also be able to help anyone with questions. http://liftnews.squarespace.com .

  4. I’m a lurker, but couldn’t resist commenting here. I use (well, used - I’m slacking off right now) the Cardio Coach workouts and I really like them. I started with V2 and V3 and later got V4 &5 as well. They increase in difficulty, so I haven’t been able to do V5 completely yet.

I use them for walking/running outside even though they are also designed for use with a treadmill or stationary bike. I got a heart monitor and really liked seeing the changes in my heart health - now I have to do more to get my heart rate up to the right level.

These workouts are challenging and interesting to me and I would highly recommend them. They aren’t free, but they are cheaper than most dvds.
