This is my food journal for Thursday, March 14.
I must admit to being pretty dense about counting calories! I’ve never done it. Ever! But it was very interesting. I might start doing it some…for planning purposes, I think.
Of course, it’s incredibly time consuming. So, we’ll see. I can see how it is helpful for the things you eat on a regular basis…if you don’t change your menu much.
Breakfast - Peanut Butter Oatmeal, 20 oz. water
Morning snack - 18 grapes, 20 oz. water
Lunch - Turkey wrap, 20 oz. bottled water
(Itialian Herb Flat-out bread, baby spinach, 2 slices of deli turkey meat, 1 tbsp of SB Ranch dressing)
Afternoon snack - 11 sugar snap peas, 20 oz. water
Dinner - Lemon pepper chicken breast, sweet peas, asparagus Parmesan, 20 oz. water
Total Calories consumed - 1412
(I couldn’t find my bread in the list, but I went and looked on the package and added it!)
Hey, yo, blest? Why is it that my spacing is always wonky in my posts, and I can’t edit it? Hrmmmm….

Hi Bethany–
Are you on South Beach? The reason I ask is I saw you had sugar-snap peas. I am trying to find out for sure if they are allowed on SB and if so, in which phase(s) and in what amount. They are so sweet; that’s why I want to be careful. Thanks!

Yes, I’m on SB. And sugar snap peas are allowed!! They are sweet, aren’t they? Taste like candy!

And now, like a dummy, I just reread that article. She says snow peas. Aren’t they similar? Or am I wrong….going off to go googling now.

Okay Brandi, you’re gonna think I’m NUTS!! I just went and checked what I’d eaten, and it’s snow peas, not sugar snap peas. Sorry!
My calories are probably wrong a bit…but it’s gotta be close!
Anyway, snow peas are very, very sweet. Not sure about sugar snap peas.

Now see…if you people were smart like me you just wouldn’t LIKE peas and then you would have no dilemma!

Goodness! Not like peas! What on earth is wrong with you???

I always thought that snow peas and sugar snap peas are pretty similar, so I shouldn’t worry about it! They go great in stirfrys I think, or with hummous, or just on their own

Okay, so the consensus is they’re allowed on South Beach? Are they limited? I wonder if the difference in names for veggies is regional. Just to clarify, what I call snow peas are flat and I see them a lot in asian cooking. Sugar-snap are plump and the “peas” inside look just like normal green peas but I don’t know if they are or not. Thanks for the help, everyone!
