“Kiwifruit is nutritionally dense. It’s low in sodium and calories and high in potassium. When ripe, the kiwi contains the proteolytic enzyme actinidin, which aids digestion. Ounce for ounce, kiwifruit contains more vitamin C (a water-soluble antioxidant) than an orange. It’s also a good source for two of the most important fat-soluble antioxidants: vitamin E and vitamin A.[….] In fact, a 2004 Univerity of Oslo study shows that daily consumption of two or three kiwifruit has similar effects as the daily dosage of aspirin that some physicians recommend to improve heart health.” from Experience Life magazine
Kiwi can be eaten with or without the skin, and is very good in salads, I find. Pureed, it makes a great popsicle, they say. And, get this, that enzyme that makes it so good for us is also great for tenderizing meats. (Just rub meat with the flesh or place slices of kiwi on top of the meat for 10-15 minutes, removing and wiping off excess juices before cooking.)
Won’t you eat a kiwi today?
It’s also VERY high in fiber … more fiber in one kiwi than in an apple. I fed those to my first-born like crazy whenever her system needed a little boost … and she liked them a LOT more than prune juice.

Stephanie, I didn’t know that but I am so glad you mentioned it. I work hard at boosting my fiber content. Good to know!

Seriously? You can eat the skin. But isn’t is furry? That’s one of the reasons I prefer eating nectarines to peaches - I hate the feel of the furry peach skin in my mouth! But anyway…

Eat the skin?? I’m guessing you’re serious? Have you ever eaten the skin? What does it taste like? I never considered eating it…hmm…I’ll eat a peach with the skin but have never done that with kiwi before.
Anyway…I didn’t know all of that about kiwi. I typically get them for my “fruit pizza” (talk about carbo-rama). I do like kiwi - I’ll have to get some

I have eaten the skin, after slicing it up thinly. It doesn’t really have a taste, but it is furry. I don’t think most people eat it, but it makes a purty contrast in a salad

LOL - a purty contrast in a salad - too funny!! I guess it also adds fiber?

I looked it up on google (where would we be without it?!) and most places I looked at said yes, you can eat it - doesn’t taste of much, but adds to the fibre content!
