I guess you could say I’ve been e-fishing for compliments lately. My Dad took this picture of me and my hubby on Christmas Eve, you see. And well, I like it! So I’ve been sending it around to my pals who haven’t seen me in quite some time. Being military, I have friends all over the place that haven’t seen me in, literally, years. The responses from my friends have been so sweet, and I treasure them. But it’s the responses from the husbands that have really made my day. After all, my buddies have to be supportive - their husbands don’t.
My dear friend Carrie lives in Japan now. I sent her the pic a few days ago, and her response cheered me when I was feeling so very ill. I actually read it at 2:30 in the morning when I was up scavenging for medicine. It was so sweet and supportive that I won’t put it here lest you become sick yourselves! But the one from her husband made me laugh out loud. Now to set the stage, Aaron is a man much like my own husband (they even look alike!) a tall, quiet, upstanding SouthernBaptist deacon of a man who also happens to be a great Marine. Here’s what happened…
Aaron just got home from work and I told him I had a picture I wanted him to see. When he came in from the other room and saw it he said, “D#@*!!!!! Wow!!!!”After I got over my shocked expression at his response, he said for me to email you and find out how you did it.I was ready to lay into him but then he told me he wanted to find out for himself.
How fabulous!! And that picture is soooo great. Doncha just love yourself? Looking all cute, with a handsome Marine, and a very cute blouse? You are cute personified:)

Why thank you! And he’s actually much handsomer than that. The funny thing is I don’t really like my face in this pic the more I look at it. I like my face in the pic of me and Stephanie much better…

Oh, isn’t it nice to go from hiding from the camera to glowing in front of it? And the responses of people make all the hard work seem worthwhile.
A few months ago, I saw a young man (college student) who used to work in our office when he was in high school. His jaw dropped when he walked in - and he said, “Wow Mel - you got hot!” He was over exaggerating, but it was nice anyway.
