Devil in a Blue Dress Brown Sash

So the doorbell rang a little while ago… It was the devil- dressed up in a fetching little girl scout uniform.

Yes Ladies, it’s that time of year again. Girl Scout Cookie Time.

I know, I know… It’s so hard to say no. How many of us were scouts ourselves once? How many of us participated in the door-to-door ritual, earning patches and prizes as we purveyed those same tasty morsels? (now up to $3.50 a box thank you very much!!!) I know I did.

But you must resist!!!

Personally, I ordered three boxes of Tagalongs. My husband loves those. We’ll give a few to the boys and the rest can go to work with the man. But for the first time in I don’t know how many years, there will be no shipment of ThinMints taking up residence in my freezer. I will not be undone by the devil in a Brownie uniform!! And neither shall you! If there is something that you can order for your family that you don’t like, go for it. But don’t be deceived… Ain’t the willpower out there that can ration a good box of Girl Scout Cookies. And then when that first shipment is gone, there will be dealers outside every Wal-mart ready to give you another fix when the cookie-jones hits. Hide when the doorbell rings if you must, but don’t let the cookie-demon get you!!predator island movierating reasons movies ofmovie evil resident sequeldirectory movies sublimegallerie fuck movies teenmovies fuck teenmovie teen galleriesin woman movies whipped Map

  1. Now this is something that we just don’t have happen in the UK, and having read your post Blest, I am truely thankful.
Keep up the resistance ladies

  2. Oh yeah…Just picture it: Every year you are approached by one or more cute little girls in uniform - usually the child of someone you want to be on good terms with, like a co-worker or a neighbor. They offer you a selection of cookies that you have loved for 30+ years. Things like Do-Si-Dos - a peanut butter sandwich cookie, Trefoils - a buttery shortbread which is great dipped in coffee or hot chocolate, or Tagalongs - a plain cookie topped with peanutbutter and covered in chocolate. And the almighty ThinMint - the best of the bunch being composed of deep chocolatey wafers covered in minty chocolate.

And you know that these cookies only come around once a year - seriously, you can’t buy them any other time - so you LOAD UP! Besides, ThinMints taste best frozen with a glass of cold milk anyway.

    Oh it’s terrible.

  3. It is MUCH better to buy popcorn from my Boy Scout anyway!!! You can buy the bag of kernels and pop it yourself in the good ol’ air popper and then add healthy seasonings!!!!! LOL

  4. I’ve already said no to the first Girl Scout of the season. It’s pretty hard to turn down the Tagalongs and Thin Mints. If a box of those makes it into my house I’m toast. So…I said no. :) Just hope I can keep it up until March!

(I was a Girl Scout….my parents ordered and froze 80 boxes of Samoas!)

  5. hehehe I was a Girl Scout for 11 years and now have a daughter that was a Brownie — pretty hard to say no to her. However, she is not currently in a troop but we just heard of one for maybe next year. I am on the hunt for some Thin Mints and Samoas…… lol — just kidding REALLY!!!

  6. Oooh, are the Samoas the coconut and caramel ones? Those are the only Girl Scout cookie I like. But, I currently know no girl scouts–yay for me! That, and I am pretty much a cheapskate.

  7. I saw one carrying a big box at church Wednesday night but I haven’t been hit up yet. My favorites are the Samoas (yes those are them Laura) and the thin mints. I’ve eaten entire boxes of both in one sitting before…shameful! Was it dryers that had ice cream made with girl scout cookies?? I can’t remember but that was good too lol.

Unless DH gets hit up at work, I doubt we’ll have any in the house this year. However, if I could resist freshly baked chocolate chip cookies and pizza the last two Fridays, I can resist girl scout cookies ;) No doubt, no doubt in my mind (yes, quoting uncle Rico from Napoleon Dynamite).

  8. Ooh, we haven’t had any of them here yet…but I can’t resist the Samoas…I could (and have) eaten a whole box! I’ll have to be strong if I see any coming and not open the door!

  9. I have to share a story. My husband and I are married b/c of Girl Scout Cookies. We HAVE to buy them every year in rememberance. ;O) When I was in highschool I worked at a grocery store as a checkout girl. Jeff was a bagger and I just thought he was about a hot as they came. He was older than I so I figured there was no way. He always worked on the weekends and one weekend I came in and asked, “Where’s Jeff” and someone said, “Ohh he moved to California to live with his sister.” AAACCKKK! I was so sad to lose my favorite flirting partner. Well a few months later I came into work and Jeff was back. We continued to flirt an awful lot and I kept waiting for him to ask me out but he never would (I later learned that he was incredibly shy). I always joked with him that I would make the office girls give me his phone number and he always said that would be a breach of privacy. Then he got transferred to the night shift (stocking the shelves) and I never got to see him anymore. I used to write him notes on the boxes that he stocked and would leave him little notes on his time card (my dad refers to this as “man hunting”). HA! One day I was in the break room and noticed the Girl Scout Cookie list. Then I noticed that Jeff’s name was on there (he ordered Thin Mints) and his phone # was on there as well. I went home and called him that night. He wasn’t home so he called me when he got back. The first thing he said was, “If those office girls gave you my phone number…..” I assured him his privacy was intact and that I took his number off of the order sheet. We were engaged 2 months later…married a little less than a year later…then baby #1, #2….#3 and #4…and in March we will be celebrating our 10 year wedding anniversary! So I will be ordering a couple boxes of Thin Mints this year and will enjoy a couple with my precious husband while we share a few laughs.

  11. That’s a great story Mandi, and that’ll make that ONE cookie you eat even more tasty, right?!?!?!

  12. ROFL - I guess I’d be buying cookies too….of course, it would have been my husband who stole the number off the list, not me.
