In the spirit of friendly competition

I’ve had my own challenges in regard to exercise. For one, my hubby is out of town and leaving the kids alone in the condo just isn’t an option. It’s also been frigid out so no chance of taking the kids on an hour long power walk/jog…I don’t need sickies right now. So, Monday through thursday of last week I worked out in the condo to some of my workout DVDs while listening to my ipod. I have to do this between certain hours because I have downstairs neighbors. Well, wouldn’t you know, they would be off work from Friday through Monday! And they didn’t leave!

By Sunday I knew I had to do something so I tried to step lightly and got in a 30 minute workout without getting a knock on my door for all the stomping. Well, then comes Monday and they are still home. I think, “well, I’ll just take Monday off and make it up over the weekend.” I then sit down at my lovely laptop and decide to see how weigh in is going at OWOA and what do I find?? “Bethany the Competitive” talking smack and not just talking but gettin’ her groove on too!

“Well, I just can’t let that happen,” I say to myself as I walk to the window to search for the neighbors’ cars. “Drat! They’re still home.” Don’t they need groceries or something?? What am I going to do? I must workout - Bethany is going to make up four points if I don’t. Think, think! So I thought, “Hmm, what part of their condo might they be in?” Then I remembered that 24 came on last night (I don’t have tv at the moment but DH does and we’re 24 fans). “Ah Ha! I bet they will be watching 24 tonight and so that will give me at least two hours in which to get in my workout in my bedroom after the kids are in bed.” Hooray for Jack Bower! YES - I had a plan.

Off to bed with the kids and on with my sneakers! And Bethany….I earned 4 more points working out among the uhaul boxes in my bedroom. Today? Well, they’ve already left for work…praise the Lord!
