Hello (Elly)

I am 52, married to David and mother of three daughters all over 18 so counted as adults in the UK. They are Bekki, Debs (both OWOA members)and HP who is currently studying maths at Exeter uni. We live in Walthamstow in north East London, UK. Walthamstow is famous for a very long street market, the greyhound racing track and the pop group E17 (That is our postcode which I think Americans would call the zip code). I am a dyslexia specialist teacher. I work in 2 schools, one a private school where I teach a few pupils on a one to one basis (literacy and maths). The other is a state school and I teach small groups for literacy support every afternoon. I am also treasurer of our local dyslexia association.
Unlike lots of the OWOA mums I did not homeschool my children but i was a stay at home mum for 18 years.
I am a christian and have been since aged 8. We worship at a church which meets in a cinema. It is part of the New Frontiers family of churches.
As far as my weight goes it has gone up and down over the years. I gained lots of weight with each pregnancy and lost it all again while breastfeeding. Unfortunately as a weight loss strategy that can’t go on for ever! The weight crept back - I like food too much. A few years back I went on the ‘Weighdown’ programme with other members of my church and lost lots. But recently it has been creepng up and up again. I stress eat and know I confuse tiredness for hunger at times. Debs was the one who inspired me to start again and I knew she needed the encouragement of doing it together. So here we are.
I love singing and have been involved in worship leading in the past. I love doing crosswords and reading if I ever get the time - not that often these days. I particularly like reading childrens books. To keep up with the kids I teach of course.
