Since Kellie and my mum have introduced themselves so well, I thought I should say a little about myself. I’m 27, single and currently living in beautiful Cambridge, UK. I work for a small research institute, doing publicity and marketing. I’m also studying part time for a degree in Literature. I love singing, reading, knitting and cooking. I’ve been a Christian for about as long as I can remember. I drive a turquoise 1976 VW Beetle.
I’ve always been on the er, curvy side, carrying 2 or 3 stone (Non-Brit note: 1 stone = 14lb) in extra weight, but not motivated or confident enough to do anything about it. I did lose some weight during my A-level year (aged 18) but since then my weight’s gradually crept up. It was seeing Debs and my mum going on South Beach and seeing it workng for them that got me motivated this time. It’s great to have the extra boost of having other people to encourage and keep me motivated, both in the ‘real world’ and through the internet. It’s good that it works both ways: I get encouraged, but I get to encourage and support other people too.
I’ve set myself a goal weight of 160lb. That represents a size and shape I’ve never been before since I was already overweight before I grew to my adult height (5′ 10″). It’s exciting! I’ve lost around 18lb so far, another 22lb to go. One of the things that’s motivating me (and, I’m guessing, my mum and sister too) is the thought of buying a gorgeous new dress to wear to my cousin’s wedding at the end of June (and a couple of other weddings this summer. I seem to have got to that point in life where all my friends are getting married 
.) Then we can all feel beautiful together.
