Joining Tami (Bethany)

It won’t be my first run. I’m a former runner. Much of my childhood was spent at Saturday 5 and 10K’s as well as the occasional half-marathon or marathon. But it’s done.

We’ve decided to run the Saint Patrick’s Day 5K in Biloxi. It should be fun, with a parade to follow!! I’m actually mailing in our registration tomorrow so that we can’t back out!

I’ll be sure to give details when it’s over!

My goal is to finish. Tami is actually more on the ball by giving herself a time to aim for. I’m not there yet! :D

  1. I’m admiring both you and Tami! I wish running was my thing because I get better results when I work out that hard. But I inevitably injure myself and have to quit running. Grrr.

  2. Good luck! Maybe next year all three of us can run it :)

  3. Hey Anita — I found a good, slow (patience-required) couch-to-5K program on the beginnertriathlete.com website. I also am accident and overuse-injury prone, so I think I’m going to try the 4-month program. It’s going to be kind of painfully slow, but I’m hoping it’ll ease me into running without injuries :) I’m hoping to start it at the beginning of April. Let me know if you want to “team train” from afar with me :)

  4. Hey Anne, email me - pinsorneedles@gmail.com. I’m not sure if I can do it. I’m still trying to get my hip to stop hurting. I think it might be tendinitis. I started running a bit on the treadmill at the club for the fitness challenge and had to quit again. If it’s better by April I might give it a shot. It would be fun to have some accountability. :-)

  6. Ya Beth!!! I am so excited for you! Deciding to run a 5k has actually made me work harder. My dear hubby is deciding that he can’t be outdone by me so much to my suprise he was running the treadmill when I got home from church yesterday (baby sick). I really am thrilled for you! Don’t stop with just this one. Look for others throughout the year.

  7. Ah. Yes. I’ve been looking up all the races for the year in our area. It seems we could keep busy. And some of them sound like so much fun!! Some of them are ones I did as a child…one in Mobile, called the Azalea Trail run I remember being great…wonderful atmosphere. We’re thinking about doing that one as well…but it’s a 10K. Might have to walk a bunch of that one! :D
