My Brother's a Loser (Bird)

He’s been on Southbeach for 19 days and he’s dropped 21 pounds.

  1. Hmm. Maybe I need to give the old SB another chance! :) It seems to be working so well for the ones here that are doing it. I have done very well on WeightWatchers, but my midsection is stubborn. I don’t know if I need to change what I am eating, do different exercises, or just have patience!

  2. Interestingly, SB claims that you “lose belly fat first.” He explains why in the book, but I can’t remember. I tell you, though, I highly recommend the Beach :-)

  3. Wow, that’s awesome! Maybe I should switch from BFL to Southbeach. I did Southbeach 3 years ago after being on BFL for 2 years. I had stopped loosing and decided to switch, to see if I could start dropping again and it worked. But then I got pregnant and stopped.
I’m tempted to look into SB again but I just remember being in the kitchen all the time chopping this and that for salads and making spinach quiches for breakfast.
What do you all eat on Phase 1? Any ideas for quick breakfast/lunch/dinner options?

  4. Yeah, that is what I would like to know also. I just remember doing SB and being miserable. LOL What do you have for breakfast?

    I ate meat and vegetables.

For breakfast these days all I usually eat is one boiled egg. I’m not much of a breakfast guy.

  6. On Phase 1, for breakfast I would have deli turkey rolled up in lettuce leaves or Soy Sausage links. I don’t like eggs and cheese, don’tcha know. The rest of the day I was munching happily on meat and veggies.

Now I have an Oat Muffin for breakfast… and the rest of the day munch happily on meat and veggies!

  7. What do soy sausage links taste like? I am not a huge Breakfast person either, Bird. And, I also don’t like eggs that well. I guess I could eat them a couple times a week, but there is no way I could eat eggs on a daily basis.

Do you “guys” ever get tired of eating meat and veggies all the time??? Have you added back in the “good” carbs to your diet?

  8. Soy sausage tastes just like sausage. The texture is ever so slightly different, that’s all.

Tired of meat?! Are you crazy?!  I’ve always been a big protein person anyway. And I prefer savory flavors to sweets. So no - I don’t get tired of it. That’s one of many reasons this is the perfect program for me. And yes, I added back good carbs after the first two weeks. I eat oat muffins, whole wheat triscuits, whole wheat pita or tortillas…, popcorn… Just not tons of it.

  9. I’ll check out the soy sausage and get back to you ;) Do you prefer a certain brand?
