This and That (blest)

Anne had a question about how the final winner of the TEAM competition would be determined. I will answer that, but first I wanted to give a little extra info on how I calculate the points. I’m keeping a spreadsheet where I track everyone, divided - of course- by teams. Exercise days are mutiplied by two, the other factors like water and weight are not. I add each category and divide by number of team members to get the average points, then I add all the categories to yield the final score for the week. Now, if a team member doesn’t count in a category, I of course do not use them in the averaging. So, for example, when I’m calculating weight loss points for Team Tigger, I divide pounds lost by four because Lorri is pregnant. She counts for exercise and water, but not for weight loss. The same thing happens if a team member is sick or injured and can’t exercise. I’m ill this week, so unless I make a fast recovery and get in some exercise, I won’t be counting myself in that category for my team. I will still count for water and weight loss though. So I can’t use my cold as license to eat!

Bonus points are factored in two ways. Team LAFF earned the five point bonus for 100% weight loss this past week. I added that in to pounds lost BEFORE dividing for the average. However, the bonus points for photo participation were added in as a +1 to the final score.

Got it? Feel free to ask questions!

As to how the final winners will be determined, I have decided to base it on total points. That way, even if your team is not winning week-to-week, you aren’t out of the running. A team with consistently good weeks will potentially outdo a team who is stellar one week and slack the next. (not that anyone should be slack mind you!!)

Now that we’ve slogged through all of that, here is one of this week’s opportunities for bonus points! Per Anne’s excellent suggestion, we’re having a contest to name this competition. Anne suggested that we all come up with acronyms for TEAM. That is a great idea, but I want to make it more open than that. So you may suggest acronyms, or any other outstanding idea which might spring forth! EMAIL your nominations, limit 2, to me (use the blestonthego address please). I will compile them and put up a post for voting. You are on your honor not to let your team know which were your suggestions! The winning idea earns a bonus point (to the final score) for the team.

Okay. So. Get your ideas in by 10pm EST tomorrow. I’ll post the suggestions by 10:30pm. Voting will immediately commence in the comments and will continue through Sunday night. That way the winner will be determined in time for Monday’s weigh-in.
