Fighting that temptation in the freezer

I am certainly one that believes in everything in moderation. Now, while I have cut out sodas and do not make desserts very often I still struggle with one grand item. With the weather being hot and the sales on ice cream being undeniably fantastic we have three half gallons of ice cream sitting in the freezer. Not just any ice cream either… it is the Blue Bell brand and three flavors that I LOVE!!! With four kiddos and an ice cream hound hubby we have kept a steady supply in the freezer all summer. I am finding, though, that they give me a stomach ache. I have recently discovered that I have a milk intolerance issue. (I really am healthy, just have some allergies that I have to watch) That being said, the temptation is not waning when it comes to that frozen scoop of heaven. I will endure that stomach ache for a big bowl of cookies and cream or banana pudding flavor. I really need to listen to my body, huh??? I am trying to fight it with fruit and the occasional plain yogurt with the fruit but it is difficult. They are just NOT the same! I wonder if I could make some fruit sorbet and get my fix that way? Anyway, pray for me… Once it is gone I am quietly suggesting that we do not buy more. I will demand loudly if necessary but I will start with the gentle approach. Oh, the temptation… *sigh* …oh, I just want a little scoop… *whimpering* Going to clean out a drawer!!!

  1. Don’t do it!! Be strong! Would frozen strawberries and a banana with a cup of low cal juice in the blender take the craving away? Hang in there!

  2. Don’t make me come over there!!!!

Don’t do it! It’s not worth the pounds and the tummy ache!!

And yes, make some sorbet - I have a recipe for Pineapple sorbet if you need it. Of course, it’s still a lot of sugar…

  3. I feel your pain. Travis asks me to make him a scoop of ice cream almost every night and around here, Mayfield is the stuff that is the best and what is in our freezer.

I’m just thankful there is no Braum’s in the area! :)

  5. Okay… I don’t want to promote unsubmissive attitudes or anything -but does Travis have broken legs? Why can the man not fix his own ice cream? Mayhap you can find another way to serve him and let him do that one himself?

  8. I just usually do it because I’m up and in the kitchen doing dishes and such … sometimes he’s on the couch with his laptop in his lap doing work.

It’s usually not a problem … I’m really NOT an ice cream person. But of course, now that I’m specifically not eating it … you know! :) And, the guy does occasionally bring me home Sonic diet coke’s some I am not going to bite the hand that feeds me, ya know? :) LOL
