How does your seed grow? (Angie)

Tonight at our WW meeting we talked about seeds. What do you have to do before planting seeds? You know you have to start somewhere, right? Well, you have to prepare the soil, water it and make sure it has lots of sunshine. Then you have to have patience as you wait for the seed to start to grow. It is a gardening process. Now don’t we expect the same thing in weight loss? We expect to see results immediately and sometimes get frustrated when the “seeds” don’t start to sprout right away. We need to nurture the seeds.

Nurturing our own seeds would mean a support group (tada, got that), exercise or any activity, and making smart choices. So, what is the picture on your “seed packet”? For me, it is less weight and to be healthier and of course feel better about myself. If you don’t take care of yourself then you won’t succeed or grow.

What are some ways you can nurture yourself? Hmmm…1) Kindness- be nice to yourself, get rid of the negative self talk. Do nice things for yourself. 2) Curiosity- Try new things, experiment, make better choices (like fish tacos). Ask yourself when you go to walk in the kitchen and open up the frig or the pantry…are you really hungry or just bored? Why are you reaching for food? 3) Act on your own behalf- Ask yourself…would eating this really change the situation? And another way to act on your own behalf is not to give into the negative environment. Educate your family and friends, so they won’t discourage you. Plan ahead for the days to come…like vacations or parties or whatever maybe coming up. It’s all about making a plan. This is a way of life ladies, so lets change our habits and be patient.

If we are patient and water ourselves (literally) and nurture ourselves then our “seeds” will grow. So, I ask again, what is the picture on your seed packet?

  1. Angie, I went to the meeting yesterday too. I really liked the part about being kind to yourself. I haven’t been very kind lately!

  2. I really need to work on the patience part. I want changes immediately and it just doesn’t work that way. :-(
