One of my helps (Lorri)

Every morning I step on the scale. Not to let the number define my day, but to get a feeling for the general direction that it’s headed. I mark my short-term goals with highlighter. It’s helpful to see that even though I have daily ups and downs, the general trend is moving me closer to those goals. Sometimes I circle my monthly cycle days, too, just to remind myself that other forces are in play on those days. Daily weighing isn’t for everyone, but for me, it works. :-)

  1. Lorri I do almost the exact same thing. I have a little chart that spans 10 lbs. I weigh myself every morning to track my progress. It is nice to see the overall trend of DOWN!!!

  2. this looks like a good idea. I think I might try it - after I hit my first 10 lb short term goal (currently just 2 lbs away!)

  4. It must be affirming to see you going down from one goal to another!

  5. I’m finally trying to lose weight. I try to get on the scale everyday too, but I don’t track it. That’s a great idea.

  6. I like this idea, especially the fact that you circle your cycle days. That seems to be the time I get really discouraged and give up. Maybe the chart with the circles could serve as a gentle nudge for me to just keep going. I think I’ll try this one!

I’d like to lose 40 pounds by June. I’m thinking the first day my daughter goes back to school (next week) through the first day of summer vacation next June should be enough time to shape up. Thanks to your chart tip, I’m feeling even more positive!

  7. Charting has also been good since I’ve realized that I usually stabilize within a pound or two for quite a while, then take a big jump down. When I look back and see that on my old charts, it helps me remember that if I just stick with it, I’ll probably see a loss soon.

  8. I like this Lorri! I already weigh almost daily so this would be a neat addition. Maybe even post it on the wall above my scale (which is in my closet lol).

I just track weekly but I love the idea of a graph.
