Thought for the day (Jana)

I came across this verse the other day:

1Ti 4:8 For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.

At first, I was really hoping this verse was telling me not to exercise, but no, what it’s actually saying is that while exercise is good for us here on Earth, it only lasts for as long as these bodies last. It’s a reminder to me that while I do want to get my body back in shape and feel better about myself, I should concentrate at least that hard on exercising my spiritual muscles. That kind of exercise will last into eternity.

  1. Yeah, bodily exercise profiteth a little…but it’s more profiteth than I have now! HA!!!

Good thought Jana! Of course, for those of us who have neglected our bodies, I think bodily exercise is an exercise in godliness.

    What do you think?

  2. I agree. And some of us (me, I mean) need to get rid of that spiritual flab as well, KWIM?

  3. I know what you mean totally Jana! I agree with you. Bodily exercise is temporal for sure. We do need to take care of these temples both inside and out!
