Woohoo! Another week done. So far, the time is flying by
How was last week? How did the running make you feel? Tired? Exhilerated? How did you end up structuring your running? Did you run all 3 minutes at a time or break it up?
This week we’re up to 6 minutes! That’s right, 6 minutes “on” (running) and 24 minutes “off” (walking). After your first running experience last week, how do you plan to structure your running?
Did you find a race to sign up for in your area?
*Amanda, I saw your response to last week’s thread: Just keep up the walking! You’ll get up to the jogging someday :) Great job knowing your body!! That’s hugely important.
Starting to run this past week was, to use my word from the post, exhilerating. It’s such a good, good feeling to be doing cardio that is pushing me that hard — I can feel my heart working! I did 3 x 1 minute runs the first two times and tried to keep them as close as possible while still allowing myself enough recovery in between. Then today, for my 3rd workout, I jogged the full 3 minutes straight. I think I might keep that pattern up — 2 days of faster runs, building up my time (probably 1.5 minutes this week) and then the 3rd day jog the whole time at a slow, comfortable jog.

Ack. I only ran twice! But I’m gonna do better this week! Things are calming down around here a bit….I hope.
I think I’m gonna break the six minutes into two three minute runs.

The podcast I am using starts with 8 one minute “on” segments the first week, so I ran one, skipped two. The first run this week was hard. The last 10 seconds of each run I was not sure I could make it and just as I had to stop, the voice would say “good job.” The second run, being so encouraged, I felt exhilirated - it was work, but it felt good! The last run I ran every other prompt, so I did four minutes. This gives me such a sense of accompishment. I am so grateful for this idea, Anne!
I haven’t found a race yet, but some of my friends say that their are usually plenty of opportunities in the summer and early fall here.
