What is an athlete? (Bethany)

Okay, so here’s my question:

My scales, which keep all my information (age, sex, height, etc.) so that it can tell me my body fat percentage, has an athlete setting. I remember that you have to work out x amount of hours a day to be considered an athlete, but I don’t remember how much that is.

Does anyone know?

I would like to make it one of my goals to be considered an athlete in the near future. But I’m curious how much more working out I have to do to get there…

And on that note, I did an hour’s worth of cardio at the gym on Monday, plus weight training. Yesterday was my first spin class, which totally rocks….if you’re not crazy about being able to move the next day! :P It was a lot of fun though…just harder than I thought it would be. It lasts for about an hour and fifteen minutes. And boy the seat of that bike is….ummmm….uncomfortable.
I’m hoping that I’m on the road to dropping my little “I’m a former athlete” phrase forever. I despise saying it!

Anyone else on the road to athleticism?

  1. Good for you Bethany! You are amazing!

I’ve never been an “athlete”. What does one need to do to get there?

  2. It’s a certain amount of training a day….I just can’t remember how many hours. Is it three maybe? Anyone know?

  3. I’m definitly not an athlete. But I do like to be able to go hiking, etc., without getting winded. Last night I played a few “holes” of disc golf, and there was a LOT of uphill walking (next to a certain guy I like), and I’m pleased to say that I was able to walk up hill briskly, and talk at the same time, and not feel winded.
