I'm a Weight Loss Guru (Bird)

At least that’s what all the chicks at work think. I’ve officially dropped more than 20 pounds and I don’t think a day goes by when they don’t ask me about it, ask how I’m doing it and ask about what types of exercises I do and foods I eat.

The funny thing is, despite the fact that quite a few of them have some extra pounds to shed, none of them really get beyond the asking. Two weeks ago one gal told me she was officially doing Southbeach and that she was starting on that particular day. After three or four days she was munching on potato chips. :-( Incidentally, that same gal told me today that she’s made a renewed commitment to “stick to” her diet. I hope she can keep it up. :-)

It’s weird being a weight loss guru. You see, I still have a looooooooooooooooooooong way to go until I’m anywhere near my goal and, truth be told, I don’t know jack about weight loss. I just eat what Brandi gives me to eat, no questions asked! (Sort of.) I guess more than 20 pounds gets pretty noticeable, though. This other gal at work today said, “Have you been sick or are you on a diet?” ;-)

(In case y’all are wondering, I work with a lot of chicks. And of the guys I do work with, none of them have a weight problem. I’m the only heavy hitting dude there!)

  1. I find it hilarious. It’s always “How are you doing it?!” And I say “South Beach”. Then “Well yeah…but are you exercising?” and when I say “yes” they always look disappointed.  People want a magic bullet. Finding out that I’m actually just eating healthy - for life - and planning to exercise for life… Well that’s just boring.

  2. In so many ways I feel like Southbeach is a magic bullet. ;-) But I know it’s not all about the diet — or the exercise which has been crappy the past week and a half — but it’s about the commitment to never, ever, EVER cheat. I’m in this until the end. Doing it the Blest way — that’s what we say around here. :-p
