What the World Eats (Lady Laura)

If someone could please help me figure out how to post a hyperlink, I would love them forever. I’m a Blogger girl and don’t understand how to do it here. The little link thingy is not lit up on my compose page, if you know what I mean.*

In the mean time, there is a really interesting photo essay in Time with the weekly groceries of 15 different families around the world. One thing I noticed is how often Coke is shown.

Thanks, Debs!! I can do it now :)

  1. Ok, links. You type in your word or words that you want to make the linking bit and then highlight them. In the tool bar you’ll see a little icon that looks like a chain, and one next to it that looks like a broken chain.
Click on the joined up chain and a little popup appears. This is where you put in your web address, and you can also choose if you want the link to take you to a new page (navigating from the page you are on) or in you want it to open in a new page.

If you want to remove a link I’m 99% certain that you just highlight the word(s) and then click on the broken chain icon.

    Hope that helps

I’ll have to follow your link tomorrow, I’m off to bed now, but couldn’t help but reply to your post first!

  3. I saw that photo essay too. There weren’t many diets that I would consider eating myself. And some seemed to have a lot of junk food. And all except for maybe 2 had some sort of carbinated drink or soft drink.

  4. I wanna go eat with the Bhutan family. Looked good! Sicily wasn’t too bad either. But not only did the Bhutan family have lots of fresh food, they had a fantastic color scheme. I wanna go back and stare at it for inspiration!!

  5. Did anyone else think it was funny that the German family had all the beer??! Plus their bill was $500 a week!!! AAACCKKK! I was amazed to see how much people were spending. I feed a family of 6 on less than some families of 4 are spending in 2 weeks.

  6. And they looked so grumpy. Maybe that’s why they needed the beer…

  7. It was interesting that most of the industrialized nations had more “junk” or processed foods and it cost more. Japan was the exception with not so much processed foods. Alot of the prepacked stuff there was ingredients. The less industrialized the less junk food, chemically laden crap, and soda there was. Plus their food was alot cheaper. Did anyone notice the amount of sweets in alot of the photos? Another thing to notice was the “healthy” weight of those with the more natural diets. Even those that were thin (in the industrial nations photos) had a sick-ish look to them.
    You are what you eat!
Germans do like their beer but who can blame them? It’s some of the best in the world!
