Thank You

Thank you for your encouragement and prayers while I was having my moment. The appointment went well, but they need some time to go over his files before they make a diagnosis because this is not a straightforward case. It looks very much like Asperger’s (especially when we went over the checklist) but Daniel has some speech problems and delays which are usually not present with Asperger’s. So we will go back in three weeks to consult with them. The therapies they are recommending all involve putting him in public school setting which we don’t want to do, besides I think he would go crazy in a classroom. So we have some other options we will be looking into.
But a big thank you and hug to you all. I think I am back on track today.

  1. Have you noticed that Aspies are tremendously CUTE?! Go look at the pics of Andrew and compare with your Daniel… they even look a little alike! And I don’t know what they’re talking about with Asperger’s not having speech difficulties. Yes they DO.

Have you been to www.aspergersyndrome.org yet? It’s a good site.

I’m glad you’re feeling better. AS kids are awesome. They are so funny, and often so smart and so gifted. And don’t let them pressure you about school. They did the same thing to me… (you probably read those posts) I KNOW that Andrew is better off at home. He gets enough “socialization” at church.

We’ll talk more, I’m sure! Love ya!

  2. Oh! And did you know there is a private school for Aspergers kids in Greenville? You might not want to send Daniel there anytime soon, but maybe you could visit and see what they do there. My mom’s been thinking about checking it out for me…

  3. Your son is adorable! I’m so glad you’re feeling better about all of this.

PS was pushed on my sister in a similar situation - she just pulled my nephew out to homeschool him instead. I had to laugh at Blest’s “socialization” comment, I feel the same way :o )

    ((hugs))

  6. Hi Ladies, I lurk here often, and just had to pipe in on this. My DH and I think that our oldest has Asperger’s. We had PS test him when we put him back from HS, and they said he didn’t, that he had ADD. Which I KNOW he doesn’t! I’m thinking about taking him to a therapist. Is there anything you can advise that I ask? DS flourished when we homeschooled, I’ve put him in a charter this year and am itching to HS again, DH doesn’t think its a good idea. I’m organizationally challenged! :)
