I got a question for you Diet Divas. I have noticed that after each workout on the bike, I am ravenously hungry. That makes sense. But the thing is, I am hungry for something substantial. Like a cheeseburger or a steak with baked potato. A big ole salad or veggie stir fry just ain’t cutting it. I’ve tried it and I am still wanting something “heavy” even after getting full.
My question is, is that a craving to be ignored or is my body trying to tell me something?
Thanks!

I too crave protein after a workout. I try to eat a turkey sandwich, or an egg, etc. to help feed my muscles. From what I understand you have worked your muscles out and they are crying for something to help build them up. Most professional bodybuilders insist upon eating protein within an hour after a workout (hence all the protein shakes for bodybuilders).

Yup. You need protein. Have a good steak - nothing too marbled. Or some flavorful grilled chicken! (try my jerk rub!)

I even try eating a little protein before I work out. Whether it’s before or after a workout, protein is what you need. Just try to go lower fat.

I drink a protein or “power shake” and it curbs the craving without all the fat and cholesterol.

Oh, Leann. I may have failed to mention that shakes of any kind… well, they make me gag. I admire those of you who can drink them, but if it were a choice of drinking a shake or starving, I would be dead-lol!
(Even my ice cream must have food in it=)

Sorry, they do sell protein bars, too. I could also search my files for some homemade power bars and snacks if ya like…
