Grrrrrr (Blest)

That’s my stomach you hear.

I know that my “No eating after dinner if at all possible” policy gets a good chunk of the credit for my steady weight loss…. But man, when you’ve stayed up too late playing a game of online chess that you should have won but didn’t through two stupid didn’t check for every possible weakness mistakes and it’s been five hours since you ate dinner….

I’m just really hungry. That’s all.  Really really hungry.

Sigh.

  1. Ah Blest,
I hear your growl man! It’s that time of the cycle for me where I really just wanna eat. We finally went to bed around 11 but right before Jeff brought me a piece of chocolate and said he didn’t want me to go to bed hungry. I asked him to get that chocolate away from me because I was not going to eat it. Not at 11. No way man!
    You are doing so well!!

  2. When this happens to me, I comfort myself with the thought that my fat is eating itself. Then, I go to bed and think long and hard about what I will have for breakfast!

    So proud of you, friend!

  3. When I used to do Weigh Down, I found comfort in Gwen Shamblin’s reassurance that whenever you don’t eat while hungry it’s okay…your body just takes a meal off of your hips! That’s a nice word-picture!

Personally I can’t go to bed hungry anymore…after my first pregnancy I developed mild hypoglycemia (probably related to my addiction to sugar; maybe that will be cured through South Beach!) and if I go to bed hungry I will grind my teeth something awful and wake up really weak. But all I need is half a glass of milk or something…no excuse to pig out!

  4. Good for you for not giving in to that “grrrrr” in the tummy!

I know evenings are the hardest for me. I can do fine all day but when the sun goes down…watch out! That’s the toughest part of the day for me.

  5. I am a bit like Brandi. If I get really hungry even if it is late I will eat something. But I have also resisted and know the hungry feeling will go away becauwe I will be asleep soon. Evenings can definitely be the worst time can’t they. I call it the munchies when i just want to put something in my mouth.

Brandi I did Weighdown a few years ago. Any thoughts about why you are doing Southbeach now. Might be interesting to compare notes. I know Weighdown gave me some good tips about how to eat and knowing when I am really hungry but I am finding South Beach a better plan for me now.

  6. Pregnancy was when I really got hooked on bedtime eating. Cause then, if I didn’t eat before bed I woke up really nauseous. But I kept the habit afterwards…and gained and gained….

I do have a snack/dessert after dinner once in awhile. Like on Wednesdays when we eat dinner early and go to church. Choir rehearsal is WORK! But even then I try to eat before 8 or 9 to give me an hour or two before I go to bed.
