Not Fair!! (Tami)

Ah!!  I feel like my weight is so unfair right now!  I need to vent.  I have been sooo good.  Yes I have had evil thoughts about foods that I won’t even mention but I have not given in.  I thought about a sugar free fat free latte yesterday but decided that it wasn’t worth the trade of calories lost from running yesterday.  Grrrrr………  Would you believe I am up 3# since Wed morning.  3 lousy pounds!!  Okay, so I have a feeling I know why (not food related) but still…this just stinks.  You know, throw my hormones in the mix right now and I think about throwing my hands in the air and indulging. NO I WON’T!!!  It’s just the hormones talking.  Alright, off to the gym to gain more weight work on being healthy.

  1. Tami, oh honey I know it is so hard, especially when you worked extra hard this week with the running. Keep moving forward, you won’t regret it. I am so very proud of you for not caving, AWESOME JOB GIRLFRIEND!

  2. Tami - keep on sister! I know it is frustrating when the scale does not move but you really are being good to your body! Your heart and blood pressure and cholesterol and all those other things will thank you! The weight will come off….but sometimes our bodies just do strange things. I remember a couple of months ago I gained like 4lbs in the span of 5 days!! ACK! But a couple of weeks later I lost all that fluid and ended up being down a couple of pounds. You have been doing great and are working so hard — remember slow and steady wins the race.

  3. Get Jeff to hide the scale until Monday morning. Drink LOTS of water and eat lots of veggies - especially asparagus.  Avoid Sodium if possible.

And everything Mandi and Kellie said too! You know you’re doing everything right. So put your fingers in your ears and don’t listen to that scale!!!

    Love ya!

  4. Yeah, what everybody else said. You are doing SO good by not caving in. You are starting good habits and eventually everything else will catch up with your good habits. Don’t give up!

  5. Tami - what about muscle gain? You mentioned before that you are working out like mad. I always gain a few pounds when I kick it up a notch - especially with weights. Maybe inches are a better measure for you right now so you don’t get disouraged?

  6. Tami, you are doing great…don’t give up. I know it’s easier said than done but don’t give up and don’t give in. It’s hard seeing those numbers on the scale especially when you are trying so hard but don’t get discouraged. Once you’re hormones get out of this little rut, your numbers on the scale will reflect it and you’ll be glad you didn’t give up!!!

  7. Tami,

I’ve also heard that bodies tend to retain water when we lift weights — I think it has to do with the tiny muscle tears that result from weight-lifting needing water to repair (and build stronger muscles!) So keep going — the weight may come off slower when you’re lifting but 1 lb of muscle takes up a whole let less space than 1 lb of other stuff… You can do it!

  8. Blest - how does eating asparagus help?

  9. Blest, does sodium jack people’s weight up?

This post is interesting because I’m a little frustrated myself. I lost 9 fat ones last week but this week, while eating less and working out more, I’ve yet to see much loss (just a couple of pounds). D’oh!

I do eat salt like a fiend. I eat it on everything. I LOVE salt. It’s my only source of comfort. And, to tell you the truth, I think salt loves me too. :-)

  10. Caroline, asparagus is a natural diuretic.

And yes, Bird, sodium can make you retain fluids which can “jack people’s weight up”. However, you also need some PATIENCE!!!!  A coupla pounds since Monday is pretty respectable. You didn’t put it on overnight - you’re not getting it off overnight. As we say in my family, “Deal with it, roundhead!!”

  11. What you don’t realize, Yoda, is that I did put this weight on overnight. ;-)
