C25K: Week 5! (Anne)

Hip, hip hooray! We’ve made it through the first four weeks!

How does it feel?

This week is another time/distance increase: 3 workouts with 9 of 30 minutes running. Who’s excited? We’re nearing in on having our running be at least totaled to a mile. The dreaded “mile” always seems like a rough barrier to me, so I’m excited to get over that hurdle in the next four week segment :)

What about you? Are you excited to cross the “mile” barrier, too?

I’m a little bit behind from my lack of motivation last week, so I’m doing my last workout from last week (6 min) today (Sunday), and then will stagger my other runs every other day (Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday).

Don’t forget to do 5 minutes warm-up and 5 minutes cool-down on either side of your 30 minutes!! Your body will thank you later ;-)

  1. You know…I’m actually jealous. I was leafing through a Running magazine that I bought my hubby and thinking “I would like to try that…” But my knees have not fully recovered from their trauma in March. They’re much, much better - but not pain free. Maybe some day!

Anyway- You Guys Rock!! Woo Hoo!

  2. Thanks, Anne, for keeping us going! The more I added to the run, the more my knees were aching. :( I really want to do this, but I think some more weight will have to come off before I can push it much further.

So I’m going to continue the brisk walks, and I seem to handle up to 5 minutes okay, so I’ll keep that in. And since I saw how the exercise ramped up my weightloss, I am adding in a Curves workout 3 days a week. I went three times this week and because of the C25k, my stamina has certainly increased and it was much easier than in the past.

It’s slow going, but I feel like I am building some great habits! Oh, and I discovered a local charity walk/run near the end of July. I may only be able to walk it, but I’m signing up!

I’m trying to be excited about what I can do rather than disappointed with what I cannot. Thanks, again!

  3. Anne - I’m so proud of you girl!! Keep going! Otherwise, when this bod is a bit lighter I’ll be running circles around you since I’ll have all this experience with hauling my largo patootie around - tee hee.

My hubby bought me a used Treadmill on Saturday and I’m sticking with the 27/3 routine until I feel confident my knees and ankle aren’t going to flake out on me…then I’ll up it :)

    I miss running sooooo much!!

  4. Anne - guess what!? As I was doing my Curves workout yesterday, I added up the 30 seconds of running in place I do between machines and it’s 9 MINUTES!! Does that count - I am running 9 minutes!? They have these bouncy little platforms to run on and it does not hurt my knees. So I am thinking if I keep up the walking, when I am light enough running should be a breeze!

    And, yea, Blair!
