A Point-ed Question (Blest)

So I just thought I’d get a midweek update on our fast and furious Happy Heart challenge…

Not counting today, how many points ya got??

And while we’re talking…

How are you feeling?

How are you eating?

Getting your water?

(what is your name, what is your quest, what is your favorite color? Aaaaaaieeee!)

  1. Let’s see… I have 12 pts so far, which I’m sure does not put me in the lead.

I’m feeling pretty good except my knees are sore - as always.

Eating good, though I need to watch the portions at meals. Just cause it’s Brussels Sprouts I still don’t need to eat three servings.

And water levels are fine. More importantly, I’m maintaining appropriate coffee levels. (mmmm Decaf Cafe Verona…)

  2. I’m frustrated that I’m STILL aching from last weekend’s mountain walking. My right knee is painful enough that I’m cycling rather slowly and not exactly doing any ‘heart-pumping’ exercise. I suspect I shall just have to take it gently until it stops hurting. No sense in pushing myself and doing more damage.

  3. Way to be smart and listen to your body!! You might want to start taking Glucosamine w/Chondroitin. It’s a proven supplement for joint health. Also some judicious icing (on the knee, not on your food!) and some ibuprofen are good things. I oughta know by now, eh?

  5. 11 points (missed the first day). Drinking water, eating veggies, did not go to Culver’s last night while driving around in a desperate attempt to get the toddler to sleep. Oh, how funny/sad is it that my not-very-verbal guy recognizes the Culver’s sign? “Dee-dee!” he yelled [translation: Look! Something cool!] “Um!” [Yum!]

  6. 10 points and on my way for a few more. With all my previous whining about exercise, I am impressed with my score thus far!

Exercise is really bringing my spirits up. My eating is good overall, but had a beverage not on the “plan” at the Rod Stewart concert last night. Chug-chug (with the water, not the unsanctioned beverage previously alluded to.)

Name: Thumper (cause I make a lot of noise)
Quest: Stay online til my right foot wakes up
    Color: sky blue

  7. Earned 3 points over Mon and Tuesday. None yesterday. :-( but 2 so far today. Anything is better than nothing I suppose. I never even counted last time we did this challenge cos my record was so abysmal.
Feeling ok, a bit more oomph than last week but still not fully recovered from chest infection. I cough and it hurts. Eating ok I think. Succumbed to a slice of Bakewell pudding last night at house group. Another group member had just come back from there so it was the real thing. Actually it was a little too sweet for my taste so I could have done without it.
Water, sometimes I forget so have to watch my self. Will try to moniter it over the next few days to get back on track.

  8. 12 points so far. But I’ve been feeling very unmotivated this week. It’s been tough to drag myself into to doing the right thing this week and I haven’t been doing a very good job of it.

  13. I’m up to 12 points before today. I took a much-needed day of rest yesterday, which may make me lose the competition, but I’ll take a happy body over winning the competition ;-)

  14. Uh, I have…14 points so far, not counting today.

    I feel organize-y and distracted.

I am eating well. It’s veggie season. :) Might be a bit low on protein low…

    Always enough water.

  15. Okay here goes posting try #2 –

    Name: Mandi
Points: 20 including today (it started on Sunday right?)
Food: Great! I have started eating prior to weight training in the morning and it is making a big difference. I just have a bowl of homemade oatmeal but the complex carbs really help out. After my workout I have a protein bar or shake with veggies. My parents asparagus patch just came on so we are eating that by the plateful (at 20 calories/cup why wouldn’t you??!)My 3 yos LOVES the stuff but it is making for extra stinky diapers.
Water: I’m drinking about 1 1/2 gallons a day. Since I’m eating more protein I really need the xtra water to help digest it all properly.
Feelings: I’m a woman so ask me in a minute and it might change. Right now I’m feeling really great. The workouts have been really good for my psych — they give me 1 full hour of time to MYSELF! With 4 boys in the house that is a miracle (the place I workout has open gym time for the older 2 and childwatch for the younger 2).
Quest: Right now it is getting my 3 yos to take a nap. *wink wink* — In terms of fitness I’d like to run a 10 minute mile, I’d like to be in a size 6/8, short term I’d like to hit the 150’s by the end of June.
Favorite Color: The Color Purple (ohhh wait…that is one of my favorite movies….) PINK!! (this is really more in terms of clothing and flower choices)

  16. Hi there! Let’s see, without counting today, I’ve got 16 points. I’ve been feeling good although extra hungry lately. I’ve been so busy at work and I haven’t been eating balanced meals, so I think that explains why I’ve been so hungry. Plus yesterday and today I’ve been fighting an aweful headache and I can’t help and wonder if it’s because I haven’t been eating balanced meals and maybe I’m missing something in my diet. As for water…I drink quite a bit and I try to keep track but I always forget to mark it down and then loose track of how much I’m drinking. I really need to get better about this because I want to make sure I’m drinking enough.

  17. Hi Everyone! I have 5 points so far. Now, don’t you all go comparing yourselves to me and feel inadequate! ;-)

I am doing well….my quest is to get organized…any pointers? Water is good…I am a water-addict…Food is good too. I need to watch portions like last night. I just should not have finished my “burger” because I was full. I am just enjoying South Beach and I am totally fine with my slow progress toward goal. Thanks all of you for all of your support!

  19. Jana I can’t tell whether that is a depressed voice, a tired voice or simply actually I am really not interested. That’s the trouble with blogs. But if you are feeling low, don’t despair. God loves you and is rooting for you as you care for your 4 lovely boys. Praying that you have a good day today.
    Hugs.
