We’re thinking of treating ourselves to a crock pot\slow cooker. But first we thought it’d be good to poll you guys. I don’t really know much about them, just that they’re a useful time saver and a good way to make meals while you’re out and about.
What is your favourite feature of a crock pot? Can anyone recommend a particular make that we could look out for? Anything else we ought to know about them? Also, any favourite crockpot recipes that we could steal try out?
I love my crockpot! I use it at least once a week.
My brand is Rival, but I don’t know if it is available overseas.
I have two favorite features: it doesn’t heat up the kitchen in the summer and I can go about my business without worrying about checking the stove or oven.
I only have one crockpot cookbook, Fix It and Forget It Lightly. It has nutritional info. for each recipe, like fat, calories, carbs, etc.

Also, look for one where the crock part can be removed for easy cleanup. I used to have one where it couldn’t be removed and it was a pain to clean - therefore I never used it. I just recently bought a new one where it can be removed. SO much easier!
My newest cookbook is Beth Hensperger’s “Not Your Mother’s Slow Cooker Cookbook”. I haven’t tried very many recipes, but what I have tried have come out pretty good.
