I know I have mentioned at least a dozen times how much I miss my treadmill. I’ve wanted to get it out of storage for at least 9 months now (it’s been there a year) but alas it is all the way in Texas and I am all the way in Maryland and well…it just isn’t going to happen. Besides, if I could somehow get it to me, digging it out of that unit would be a nightmare.
I love running outdoors except it reminds me of being followed by a lunatic years ago and I can’t seem to get past the feeling that I always have to look over my shoulder. Yes, I carry pepper spray but I did back then too. It still creeps me out. I like my walk/jog dvds but there is only so far I can go with those. So on Friday I was once again whining to myself (and God) about this when it occurred to me that perhaps I should see if I can rent a treadmill for while we’re here…no such luck…well, if I was in Canada or the UK probably but not in MD unless I’m a business. Then I remembered wonderful, thrifty Craig’s list and did a quick search.
I sent my hubby the link to all the ones in our area and pointed out the two I liked best (incidentally they were the most expensive ones lol). He sweetly wrote back giving me two links I could choose from (neither of them were the ones I had selected and they were MUCH cheaper). Yes, we’re trying to meet some financial goals so I was glad he kept me in check there. I looked over the two he sent (he had also sent me links to their online user’s manuals - that’s the kind of guy he is). I picked one and he went out on Saturday and got it for me!
Yesterday was the first time I’ve worked out on it and it is definitely not the Cadillac of treadmills but it will do the job. I’ve decided my treadmill in storage really had spoiled me with its programmed workouts, hand sensor speed changes and high quality construction. My mother said that it will make me appreciate the other one when I finally get it back - I’m sure she’s right. In the meantime, I’m so very grateful for this machine. My husband really could have said “no” since I do have all I need to get in a good workout already (you know, running shoes, pedometer, ipod…and pepper spray) but he knows how much I used my old treadmill and knew this one wouldn’t go to waste either.
Well, I thought I’d share my joyous news
Yah! Congrats Blair. Let me tell you, I had one of those older…definitely not top of the line treadmills. Man it was so hard to get 4 miles in an hour. (might I add it was also stuck at a slight incline) The first time I used one of the gyms wonderful treadmills…well, I definitely appreciate being able to afford the gym.

Hi Blair! That’s great that you were able to get a treadmill. I hope you’re able to get some good use out of it.
I’ll have to check out Craig’s list…I hadn’t thought of that. I have a gym membership and I manage to get there M-F but weekends are so hard because they’re hours aren’t very good. They’re only open from 8-1 on Sat and Sun they’re closed. I wish they were open earlier or stayed open later on Sat, then I might be able to make it. My daughter has gym class at 10, so that cut rights into those hours. So, having a treadmill or elliptical at home sure would be nice to fill in for when the gym isn’t open.

Well hello everyone, I enjoyed this post on the treadmill because I am amazed that anyone can run! I would love to run except for the actually doing it part. But I do like to excercise in general, just fitting it in is an effort. My name is Charlotte and I am determined to be a part of this effort! I did 2 points worth of serious walking this morning and I feel good. I am a homeschooling mom of 6 now (latest came March 29th) and have been steadily losing since the baby came. But I need to get past my 170 lb point to a reasonable weight for a 5 foot 1 1/2 person….. Having never been that it will be interesting to see! My goals for today are to stay on plan (I am doing WW Core), drink my water, earn two more points and hopefully teach some math and reading! Thanks for reading.. char

Thanks Tami, Cristina & Anne I’m pretty excited about it. My hubby likes the eliptical but he has a gym membership (right next door to his office, so very convenient for him) and can use any piece of equipment he wants lol.
Hello Charlotte! Welcome, looking forward to travelling this journey with you If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to drop me an email atj.blair.lane@gmail.com

Hey Charlotte!! Let me tell you I have so been at the “getting” myself to exercise. I’m still there on some days. LOL. I’m so glad you decided to chime in here. If you want to run, you can do it…eventually. It takes time, effort and energy. When I started this journey in my life I could walk about 1.5 miles in a half hour (I was pushing a double stroller too). This morning I logged 5 miles exactly in 55 minutes. Keep at it! You can do it.
